I really want Federer to win one this year.  He should have had Hamburg but he choked that one away, but he looks more determined this year.  Otherwise I think Nadal is going to win.

i would also LOVE Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic to win the French....

but i suspect Fafael Nadal will win for the men (Djokovic stands a better chance at Wimbledon on grass)

and for the women i think either Ana Ivanovic or Jelena Jankovic.... Jankovic is better on clay, but always struggles with Ana

from the 5 matches before, the world number two Rafa and Ana really consistent and improve at every stage

but they must beats their rival which is world number three novak and jelena, both wins at Rome in warm up tournament...

in other side, roger and sveta will try to complete a career slam and reach no. 1 rank..

i also want monfils and safina reach their first grand slam semifinals because they did well in previous matches...

so far, i want Rafa and Ana win the title and level up with Borg record for 4 titles in a row and for Ana, win a first grand slam and be the number one player...

Well who I would like to win and who I think will win are completely different.  I would like Andy Roddick to win the French Open.  However, that may be a bit difficult as he withdrew from the tournament before it even started.  That does make things slightly harder for him to win.  But I think Nadal will once again prevail in the French Open.  Djokovic will definitely give him a run for his money, but Nadal, here at the French Open on clay, just has a mental advantage over everyone else.  I say Nadal wins once again, but I wouldn't be surprised if Djokovic won.  Personally, I'm rooting for Djokovic, but it'll be a tough test to see if he can beat Nadal.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm rooting for Fed. This has been a turbulent year for the man, and he deserves to win this one, possibly his last stab at it.

I think Safina deserves to win on the Women's side. She destroyed Sharapova and her big ugly ego. She is a hard worker and she will win it. I hate the Vic-s Jankovic and the other   wussy one.

I'd love to see Federer win. He's such a great player and he's come fairly close the past two years, but realistically it is hard to imagine Rafa not not getting his fourth straight French Open title. He's next to invincible on clay.

Nadal and Ivanovic. Besides Serena, who lost in 3rd round, I do not cheer for anyone more so than these two. Then I have my next tier of favs, with Novak, Blake, Almagro, Venus, Kuznetsova, Radwanska etc. Coincidentally, both are playing extremely well, sweeping their opponents off the court quickly. Especially Nadal, who in his first 5 rounds not only didnt lose a set, but hardly lost any games within those matches. Ivanovic is looking better and better as the tourney progresses. I think their semi final matches will be more difficult, but they should prevail nonetheless.

I would like Nadal to win the mens and Safina the womens.

There was talk about how Sampras was the best ever and now it's switched to Federer.

But for me you can only judge a player by era because of the advancements in surfaces and equipment.

For me Bjorn Borg was the best ever.  His favourite surface was clay and he won 6 French Opens.  Clay is at one extreme and grass at the other yet Borg won 5 Wimbledons in a row as well as 6 French Opens.

I knew Dinara would beat Sharapova... and shes on a roll on clay.. beating justine the queen and serena along the way (2 clay champs) then beating dementieva in the finals of the warm up tournament.

At the start I said Nadal because nobody comes near to him on clay. I also said Kuznetsova or Jankovic would win and that Sharapova wouldn't make it to the second week(which she did but only just)

I stick by my predictions though I am leaning towards Kuznetsova even more than before to win as Jankovic hasn't been to impressive.

With Ivanovic going well I would be suprised if Jankovic beats her considering their head-to-head record.

I would like Nadal or Djokovic to win though would also like Federer to win it at some point.

Jankovic is now my firm favourite player since Henin retired-Come on Jelena!

Nadal and Kuznetsova still to win though for me.
