  1. Babe Ruth, but unfortunately he aint available! :(

  2. The only real answer to this question is Jeter.... he should be the last one to homer in the promise land... second should be Jorge Posada.... nothing against the rest but these guys have been there from the jump.

  3. Mariano Rivera. Have him pinch hit and take someone deep.

  4. Jason Giambi or Derek Jeter

  5. Derek Jeter is the only active Yankee, Posada is on the DL, that I would like to see hit it, but there are 4 guys that are no longer playing for the Yanks that deserve it more: Don Mattingly, Tino Martinez, Joe Torre, and Bernie Williams in that order.

  6. Bernie Williams! :) oh you mean for real...Derek Jeter, h**l actually Brian Cashman, lets see what hes got.

  7. I think Alex Rodriguez would be appropriate. He's the big home run hitter and the heir to the babe's thrown as home run king. He'll never break the steroid pumped single season record, even Maris' 61 is a pretty tall order, coming 7 short in a career year last season, but if he remains healthy he's expected to hit about 800 for his career.

I like Jeter better, but I think of him more like Gehrig to A-Rod's Ruth, the more dedicated player who is more respected by fans of the game. The guy who just does it right. A-Rod, like Ruth before him, is an unbelievably talented player with some flaws. Ruth's were deeper, he was overweight, a drunk and supposedly kind of a jerk, but he was also the most talented player in history. A-Rod doesn't have such severe flaws, he's aparently not much of a husband and father, but the only flaw that affects him on the field seems to be an overinflated sense of his place in history the inability to perform in the most crucial situations that results from it.

I'd like to see A-Rod hit the last home run, but Jeter have the go-ahead RBI on a ball hit to right field, as well as the the final defensive play behind Rivera's save.

  8. I'd like to see George Brett take a pinetar loaded stick up to the plate and hammer one off Goose Gossage for old times sake!

  9. Their opponent.

  10. the face of the franchise, derek jeter.

  11. derek jeter! without a doubt!

  12. nate mclough

  13. Nick Markakis - favorite player on the O's, and somebody's gotta hit a homer at some point in the last series

    Incoming bad answers :-)

  14. I am a Texas Ranger fan but I also like a-rod so I would like to see Alex Rodriguez hit the last homer

  15. Babe Ruth, as that would bookend the ballpark's existence, he having hit the first one there in 1923. But, well, he's been dead for 60 years, so that's not likely to happen.

Wilson Betemit, then. Make it an obscure Yankee so in future years the bandwagoners have to really know their trivia.

  16. Definetly Derek Jeter....it would be a shame to see someone other than the captain himself do it....he cares the most about the tradition....Rivera should get the final out also.

  17. barry bonds

  18. A-Rod all the way.

  19. Alex Rodriguez.  In the bottom of the 9th.  In Game 7 of the World Series.  (The opponent? Who cares.) Then we'll rip him by saying, "For all that money, he's only got ONE ring!"

No, it should be somebody worthier.  Like... Johnny Damon.  The first homer in the stadium was hit by a Red Sock who left the Dark Side, so if another hits the last, it'll be a neat bit of symmetry.

  20. In an ideal world Pinstripes08's answer would happen.  It will be Someone on the orioles, they are the last home game.  mabe the yanks will make the playoffs and then ortiz or manny can!

  21. Jason Giambi

  22. David Ortiz

  23. Derek Jeter

  24. Someone from the opposing team.

  25. jeter last homerun arod last hit and rivera last pitch

  26. I think it would be appropriate for either Derek Jeter or A-Rod seeing as how Jeter has been the face of the Yankees prior to the arrival of A-Rod.

However, it would be nice to see A-Rod who will probably break all of the records in the new stadium to have the last homerun in the old stadium and then break Bonds' record in the new stadium.

Either of those would be fine. I think it would be ridiculous for someone like Giambi to hit it and taint the legacy of such a stadium with his steroid-induced and tainted past.

    Just my opinion...

  27. if he was still alive...Babe Ruth...but hes not  so i will go with Derek Jeter

why? Because other than Mariano Rivera, he is pretty much their onlyy good player left who is a true Yankee

  28. derek jeter!

  29. Derek Jeter Would be cool

he might be the greatest Yankee of the last ten years

  30. Derek Jeter, he is the face of the Yankees, and he is not A-Rod. He is the captain, and he has 4 WS rings. He's a true Yankee.
