Thomas Paine.  Type his name into Google, and you will receive dozens of cites.  This was during the earliest time of our country.  We were breaking away from England, fighting a war, creating a new nation, writing a Constitution, etc.  It was not an easy task, and he was a very eloquent and thoughtful writer.  His writings live on today, and are studied extensively at the University level.  Never forget that these men and women put their lives on the line and created for us a lasting legacy of greatness.
