  1. Many poets, prophets, villagers etc...all had their own place in the bible....prophets such as ezekiel to leaders such as king david. The four gospels which consist of different journals from four different men (they may sound the same but have four different view points)...to song of songs which was a diary made from king solomon about his one true love. The bible has been carried down from history, and the scrolls, letters, journals and etc...have been kept under the jews and romans (most romans kept new testament) it hasn't changed or been edited because it still matches with the words that were found in the scrolls 2000 years ago. And if you think about it...if it HAD been edited, the bible wouldn't exsist today because it would've caused too much confusion. History still keeps up with the bible and that's why it still exists today....can you think of any older book that has survived this long?? And had a great inspiring impact on ppls lives? Not to be perfect or stuck up, but to live in a relationship with the living god...who actually dided for us (even scientists and archaologists found many eveidences and admit this) but in conclusion...it is true that man have wrote the bible...but the bible isn't a story book...its a book of history, fact, lives of others and their relationship with god...the old and new testament had their own two different historical phases that match with history...such as israels bondage of the babylonians..which happened about a while....then jesus was born to bring truth back...its very consistent with history we read and the love of god we learn...very complex(especially when we have so many questions about god and life today)but god knows this, that's why he allowed someone in the past to experience hardships for us...so we may learn and find our answers through the word...peace and god bless, and if you have more questions holla at ya boy ;) lol

  2. The Bible has been written and rewritten so many times over the centuries that no one knows what it originally said anymore. Why do I say that? Because each time it's been edited something has been deliberately taken out as it was decided either to be unimportant or not something the editors or the people who hired them wanted the people to know about. Whole books have been lost from both the Old and New Testaments that would have given us a different slant on things.

  3. Many people. Your grandma is correct.

You can go to the website below and see a list of authors of both the books of the Old Testament and New Testament with approximate dates.

When was the Bible written and who wrote it?

    http://www.carm.org/bible/biblewhen.htm

  4. Mostly Jesus's deciples wrote the new testament, the old testament was written by many people including Moses. You can get a student bible that will tell who wrote each book

  5. Excellent question. A lot of people have tried to figure that out, the only conclusion they've come to is a lot of different people.

  6. a lot of different people.

  7. It depends... Moses 'wrote' down the words found in the Torah (the first five books of the old testment). Most of the other books where each written by a different author, some wrote 2 or 3 or more. However, if you believe in the bible, then the ultimate 'author' is God, who inspired the hands of the men who put down the words.

Moses wrote down the words in the Torah, but, aside from the events experienced by Moses, it is believed that what he wrote was actually a Jewish oral tradition that had been passed down to Moses. Much like the Illiad and the Odyssey are believed to be Greek oral traditions that were written down by 'Homer'.

  8. Your Grandmother was correct!!

The bible was written by lots of people did you know there is 66 books or chapters in the bible. Mostly if a book of the bible has a human name that's who wrote it!

  9. it was written by very many people, and many of them are unknown

  10. lots of people wrote the bible, some wrote more than one book and others just wrote the one

  11. religious scholars and historians, John the baptist was one of them but your grandma is correct. The bible is actually a collection of documented history. Most of the stories were dictated to the writers

  12. There were multiple people, beginning with Moses and continuing through King David and King Solomon, the prophets like Jeremiah and Isaiah, and all of the apostles of Jesus, eventually culminated in the final books which were written by the Apostle John.

  13. Okay, the Bible was written in 1965 by a chap know only as Hey U, a China man, After finishing the Bible, he sold it to a publisher and made an absolute fortune. Fairy tales always did sell well.

  14. Grandmother was correct!

The Bible as we know it was first an Oral Tradition, stories past down thru generations after generations by mouth.

Then when writing became more popular and the Hebrew language developed into writing, it was written down from the oral tradition.... usually by rabbi's and rabbi scribes.

With the addition of the New Testament, several writers have been named, mostly Christian disciples of the time of Jesus and many years after his death.

No one knows for sure. There is even a mysterious source that the biblical experts call the "Q"!

The Bible has also been "edited" several times, certain books were decided on, some added, some removed.

The best known edit was from King James of England, the King James Version.

But, again, it's been worked over since.

Even with the Old Testament, the Torah has tried to stay as close to the oral tradition as possible but even some Jews study some different sources that traditional Jews and Christians do not.

It's a living, moving, thing from many different sources and people.

If you are REALLY interested in knowing, I HIGHLY reccomend "The Bible" by Karen Armstrong. She is a expert in historical theology, and probably the EASIEST read on the subject, plus she is an absolute genius.

Some of her other books, "History of God" and "History of Religion" are equally fasinating.

  15. There are many different sections of the bible, within the two Testaments, which of course were written by many people. The first part of the bible is the Old Testament, which is about all the stories about things that happened long before Jesus was born.

The new testament is about the things that are Jesus related, so about his birth, and the journey his mother and Joseph took before he was born. It talks about his life, and then afterwards about his Resurrection. The New Testament is composed of the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Matthew and John were both Apostles themselves. John is son of Zebedee. Matthew was a tax collector before he was an Apostle. Luke was a physician, and Mark was from Jerusalem.

I hope now you understand the bible a bit better than before.
