Wheat is just a specific type of grain, so whole wheat only refers to wheat.   Whole grain may refer to any type of grain--oats, etc.  Whole grains are very good for you partly because they contain lots of fiber. Don't let the term multi-grain confuse you.  Just because something contains more than one type of grain doesn't mean that it contains whole grains or that there are a lot of the grains even in there.   Hope that helps!

There are several types of grains in the food world.  Wheat is one of them.  If you've got a food that's made up of whole wheat, then it can be called whole wheat.  It can also be called "whole grain" because wheat is a grain.  But there are other grains besides wheat, and sometimes you even get a food that's made up of a combination of grains.  So, for those foods, they just use the term "whole grain" because it's easier.
