  1. Food that include the whole seed as it was when it came off the plant.  A lot of grains have the outer husk that contains fibre, protien and other nutrients taken off.  You usualy eat them in bread or cerial but a few grains can be cooked and served like a vegitable.

Whole wheat flour insted of white flour

Brown rice instead of pollished white rice

Whole barley instead of pearled barley

    Corn on the cob

  2. whole meaning it hasn't been pulverized by a machine ...

  3. The outside 'bran' part of the grain has been removed, usually with wheat and rice, to make it look white.  Make it look more posh, since only rich people used to eat such things due to processing cost.

  4. Whole Grains:

    Barley

    Brown rice

    Buckwheat

    Bulgur (cracked wheat)

    Millet

    Oatmeal

    Popcorn

    Whole-wheat bread, pasta or crackers
