I am going to study in Canada. I want to bring two notebooks. Is there any limitations according to immigration policies? Whom can I check this with and how?

I find the call numbers of immigration department only available for those within Canada.

Could anyone please help? I really need to bring two laptops.

Thanks very much!

  1. I do not believe there is any problem with bring in 2 laptops.  The problem will most likely occur when you try to get both laptops back into your country.

Check with Customs/Border Patrol in your country.  There is likely a declaration you can sign proving that the goods were bought in your country, and will be returning to your country.  Sometimes you may have to pay a bond on the item (which you get back when you prove it returns), but I doubt anyone would care about a personal items such as a laptop.

  2. yeah,no limitations,it's your personal stuff and you're allowed to bring them.

i always travel with mine, and i have a carry on and a backpack and no one ever said i can't take all of that on the plane.

  3. You can bring them in, but you might have to pay customs duty  on them.

It might also not be possible to have both in your handluggage (check with airline) and checking in a laptop is a very bad idea.

The key for customs is whether you have bought them abroad cheaply for sale or for your personal use. Bring the receipts for the laptops  that show date of purchase. Also it's much better if your laptops are used, so have files etc.

Don't buy a new laptop a week before you leave to take to Canada, get them asap (if you don't have them already).
