Whom do one contacts if you have a game board idea a?

friend told me a toy convention another said i would have to do it myself another said need a toy agent whats the truth?

I don't know the answer myself, and in truth it would be difficult to advise you at this point because the subject of your game is unknown (e.g. A wargame, children's game, abstract strategy, roll-and-move, or trivia game would appeal to different publishers).  At any rate, there is a community on the internet that helps game designers with questions just like this and more over at http://www.bgdf.com (Board Game Designer's Forum).

Also, you might want to check out the listings over at BoardGameGeek.com.  It would be imporant to find out before you go through development what games are out there to ensure someone hasn't successfully developed an idea just like yours.
