  1. A moral guide for America.

America feels the UN's job is just to support they're actions around the world

Did you see America criticizing Israel for not following UN resolutions

  2. The idea is that they help promote peace and give aid to countries that need it.

However, it is finding itself bullied by an aggressive super-power (not naming any names).

  3. Primarily they provide a job and money laundering for corrupt politicians from rogue regimes. They also provide a place for lesser countries to vent their spleen.

Countries that get  help are helped because individual nations that happen to be in the UN decide to help them. They help them, and the other nations watch and sit around taking credit.

The UN needs some serious reforms.

  4. THere are many issues that were taken care of but this website may be helpful with the UN publication

    http://unstats.un.org/unsd/meetings_main...

  5. The UN sucks!  Their corrupt like crazy and all they do is talk and never act.  The UN should be desolved, or at least kicked out of the US.

  6. The UN is a socialistic idea thought up by irrational idealists who wanted to bring together a "community of nations".  What they did, was create an organization and forum where the United States and only a handful of other nations that respect the inalienable rights of the individual can "talk" out their problems with other nations with deplorable records of suppression of the rights of individuals.

An analogy if you will.  A police officer needs to figure out how to reduce a rising crime rate in his jurisdiction so he has a community meeting.  He meets with the criminals and asks them how to best fight crime.  Do you see the absurdity in that?  That is what I think of when the US brings grievences to the General Assembly of the UN.

  7. The UN's function is NOT as the world's police force nor is it a form of government.

The role and purpose of the UN is to provide a forum through which all the countries of the world can discuss issues and agree to act cooperatively.

Therefore to ask for a list of countries about who it has helped is just completely missing the point. Because by its very existence, it helps all of us.

neverless, the much shorter list would be who it hasn't helped. and you would find on that list a bunch of countries that don't actually need or want to the assistance of the rest of the world.

  8. Individual agencies that make up the UN's services have provided help to probably every country on earth, in one way for another.

For instance, UNESCO provides support for a variety of cultural and scientific endeavors, from designating certain sites as World Heritage Sites (which garners them world recognition and, usually, certain protections from their respective national governments) to promoting a free, independent press and safety for journalists, to preserving all languages (no matter how obscure), and on and on. Most of the UN's other agencies work specifically in developing countries. Go to the UNDP web site to see where it works and what it does:

    http://www.undp.org

Go to UNIFEM to see what countries it works in and what it does:

    http://www.unifem.org

Do the same for UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, UNV, WFP, and on and on. You will see a huge range of activities, from providing anti-malaria nets to feeding people in crisis situations to building the capacities of new governments to helping countries launch their own educational institutions and on and on.
