They were both great in their own right.  George Washington is considered the best President because he was the first.   Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves and that makes him the best also.

In my opinion, it is Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

But out of your choices, Lincoln by far. George Washington comes in at a distant third. Washington had a lot of accomplishments outside of his presidency, but his military career shouldn't be taken into account here.

FDR, Lincoln, and Washington are almost always considered the three greatest presidents, probably because of their leadership during America's most significant struggles. Who specifically takes the first, second, and third spots is up to more interpretation.

I'd probably go with Abe Lincoln. While George Washington played a crucial role in the development of the nation, Lincoln's abolition of slavery far surpasses that. If i weren't for the Great Emancipator, slavery in the United States would have probably lasted until the 20th century.

If we are including the work they did for their country throughout their life, not just during their time in office, then I would definitely have to say George Washington.  I think it would be hard for anyone to pass him up.
