This isn't a fair question. Michael Clarke is an excellent batsmen. But you can't compare him with Ponting

Ponting knows the game from A to Z and has an enormous amount of experience.

If you compared both players at the same time of their career then maybe...

Well, my friend both the players are quality players & have different kinds of variations it is quite difficult to judge & rate among the two as both are excellent players with a lovely consistency. So according to me they both have the same rank no ones higer than one...

Both of them should not exactly be compared.Ponting is oneof the legends of the games he has the 2nd highest no. of test hundreds but seems to be on a bit of a decline in the one-day format. Michael clark's batting style is just unbelievable, the fluidity with which he hits the ball is a sight to watch and he seems to be the future of australian cricket. to cut a long story short ponting is better but clarke is not to far away.

Surely you can't compare these two. Punter has already settled in and made a name for himself, and Pup still has many more years to come and is still settling down. You should ask this question after both of their careers are over, it would be more reasonable then.
