"By Congressman Ron Paul, R-Texas, 6/23/2008 6:35:11 AM

I am pleased to report that last week we received notice that the Texas Department of Transportation will recommend the I-69 Project be developed using existing highway facilities instead of the proposed massive new Trans Texas Corridor/NAFTA Superhighway. According to the Texas Transportation Commissioner, consideration is no longer being given to new corridors and other proposals for a new highway footprint for this project. A major looming threat to property rights and national sovereignty is removed with this encouraging announcement.

Public outcry was cited as the main reason for this decision. I was very impressed to learn that the TxDOT received nearly 28,000 public comments on this matter, and that some 12,000 Texans attended the 47 public hearings held earlier this year. They could not ignore this tsunami of strong public opinion against the proposed plans. I was especially proud of how informed my constituents became on the subject, and how eloquently and respectfully they spoke and conducted themselves, considering how upsetting the plans were for our communities in Texas .

This is a major victory for the people of Texas , and a reminder of what we can accomplish with civic involvement. The informed and active citizen truly is a force to be reckoned with, as we have seen with the defeat of this proposal. We must keep fighting the good fight, and remain ever diligent against the encroachments of big government. We must do this if we wish to maintain our traditional standard of living in this country. As tempting as it may be to simply live our lives with no regard to government, apathy will inevitably be punished by ever more government intrusion. That is what this fight was all about. We can win if we stick together.

However, now is not the time to rest on our laurels.

  1. I been out there the last five months and they didn't want 4,000 miles of land eaten up to build it.  For the one that doesn't understan here's the scoop.

The chinese are working onthe Panama canal so that they can bring their supertankers  across it, then they will unload at mexician ports and then the Mexican truckers will bring it into America.   this way we can go around the unions here.

Acutally since 84% of the recent veggie problem are grown in Mexico and they use 10 times the FDA allowables of insect spray (which have had to do to insure banking) , I don't think we will see an increase in fruit ans stuff.  I noticed in dallas that the ones made out of country just sat on the produce aisle.  YOu would think the Feds would not llet them bring in produce that has 10 times the FDA allowables, but they do, so are they looking out for lus.  You can check this out as it was in Forbes 5-6 years ago and I am sure they are doing other stuff also.

So the rumors about the 15,000 Chinese troops in the canal zone are true (that's Jimmy) and we all know athey already approved the  initial 2,000,000 Mexican trucks to roll and then they wanted the giant highway, for what, Canada only has 20 million people and don't need that much.   Pork.

Thanks for the tip it was not going to pass and all this should hve been stopped in the first place.  We need the canal, the democrats are big supporters of the unions and really screwed them on this one and it goes on and on. They also go around our ports of entry and thus another boreder and national security problem.  I find it insane. Take care.  By the way Rep. Paul would never have allowed it, no matter how much they offered him.

  2. There were multiple fronts on this issue and small business was involved as well, of particular was the transportation industry.

This is what you get when the public and small business work together. Together, they can stop big corporations that were to profit at our expense.

  3. Great News.  I had not heard.  Thanks for posting it.

Bravo to Ron Paul and the brave patriots of Texas.  It makes me think of a You Tube video (I don't have the link) of a Texan speaking to a rally, saying "We are going to stop their New World Order right here in Texas".   He meant it!

This is a small step.  There is much work to be done to defeat the North American union agenda.  Texas cannot stop it without the rest of the country helping.  People must write to their congressmen and senators opposing the Security and Prosperity Partnership, and that is URGENT.  People should also put press state representatives to formally oppose the SPP.

  4. Like I said in past postings... Don't mess with Texans!, and the average U.S. Citizens!

  5. well, aslong as we keep the Information Highway open (the Internet) maybe we can stop em from pulling oountry out from under our feet~!!!

their are no Democrats or Republicans anymore, i beginning of the NWO~!!!

    keep your powder dry~!!!

  6. This just goes to show that we can stop the traitors who are trying to destroy our nation.  We just have to get up off our back sides.

We can stop the effort to disarm the American people.  We can force our politicians to abolish the Federal Reserve, and return to honest money.  We can end our dangerous interventionist foreign policy and reclaim our civil rights.

We can pressure our politicians to do these things, or we can vote them out of office.

  7. I am glad we are starting to unite.

    Lets continue to do so.

    Ok,

Now do we move on to

Removal of the Federal Reserves Power

    or

To the Undoing of the NORTH AMERICAN UNION

    Or

How about a restructure of or IRS system

What plan works best for you.

Or perhaps a new system for Health care.

    WE CAN make change if

WE WILL do soemthing to create it.....

    GOOD LUCK

    .........................................

  8. "The informed and active citizen truly is a force to be reckoned with..."

    Amen!

It's only a small part of the whole package. The NAFTA corridor AND, of course, NAFTA, itself, need to remain the targets of our relentless vigilance.

Like a baby's first steps, though, that is GREAT NEWS!!!!!

    Thanks for posting it!!

    ....

Edit: On the money, as usual, DAR.

By the way, I got my copy of THE REVOLUTION!!! Yeah, Baby!

It is unNERVing to realize as I read, how much I've unconsciously come to feel like a stroke-victim with "locked-in" syndrome - sufferers are literally trapped in their silence. Their senses work normally -- they can see, hear, smell just as before -- but they're unable to tell if they're in pain, can't laugh at a joke, tell their loved ones they care... they're shut out of the very world they see before their eyes.

I (we) fight with all we've got, our shouts crescendo to a deafening roar and just when we feel we've finally been heard, the press, the parties, their flocks of sheep...walk by as if we're locked in. We begin to wonder if we ever made a sound or ever clinched a fist.

Did so many millions spontaneously imagine the same unity? The confident, smiling disregard by a handful in the media would have made it seem so. But then?

Then, the Republican Party's "Brute of Britain" strong-arm tactics AGAINST our efforts served as the first unmistakable crack in their facade. [Can you say: Thank you, you Jackasses?]

Reading Dr. Paul's book is like watching a surveillance video of the Party and Media planning those tactics. Gawd!!! It feels SO good!!!

Here's a man on the floor of the House, debating with the energy of a guy half his age, meeting with Fed leaders, questioning the Constitutionality of things most of us had never considered questionable... This guy FLOORS me!!

So his voice has a twang.

I guess that means he isn't perfect?

    Okay.

But stack THAT imperfection against McCain's and Obama's legal-blindness, as it were, and their vacuum-like absence of the critical conviction that possessed and drove the anti-Monarchical mindset of our Revolutionaries and Statesmen in the 1770's: the conviction that to be a leader in this Republic meant to demand restraint of oneself and his/her fellows in government against the tendency toward ever greater power.

Imperfect is one thing. Irreparable is another.

    ...

This is no time to slow down, much less stop.

Don't trip over a sheep; and don't step in their, uh... ...

    As always,

    Carry on, Wayward Sons...

  9. I hadn't read about that DAR. Good news indeed!

  10. What is he talking about? "National sovereignty"? WTF?

The Trans Texas Corridor was being built to accommodate the increased traffic (i.e. trade) that has been the result of NAFTA. It was being built by the State of Texas, not the federal government, because of traffic volume concerns about the existing interstate.

The recent decision was simply that it will follow existing highway facilities (U.S. Highways, not interstates), and not expand beyond, thus shrinking the scope of the current environmental study.

I don't understand what the fuss is all about.

  11. No they aren't regrouping.... just redirecting. I am sure Texans are pleased however the Canamex Corridor Project is full speed ahead. Arizona is building its own super hiway consisting of road, rail and air freight infrastructure. As the old saying goes….all roads lead to Rome.

  12. That's great!

Well that's one small victory!  We only need a thousand more!

And yes, I've joined the campaign for liberty!

Has anyone else noticed that "Call Me Bwana" has devoted his life to "debunking" the truth movement?  Isn't that odd.  Also I do believe it was he who had reported one of my 9/11 questions and had it deleted after I had proved him to be wrong on a few of his so-called "facts".  Right after I posted the link to prove what I was saying was accurate and that he was completely WRONG (and INSULTING TOO)  my question was deleted.

    How's that for censorship.

  13. Chalk up another small victory against the forces of globalization! This is almost as good as Ireland voting down the Lisbon treaty. But just like the EU, the NAFTA highway and all other components of the NAU will be steamrolled through despite all opposition. The globalists will keep repackaging their agenda until they get the results they want. This is why they need to be forcibly removed from their positions of power, and tried for treason!

Still, I bet Richard Haass is throwing a temper tantrum right now.

How does it taste, CFR b*tches?? You will NEVER have a world government. NEVER.

  14. A great victory for freedom fighters and liberty preservers around the country.  But yes, you are right.  We can not let our guard down yet, as there leads to be much more work cut out for us.  Thanks for the update.

  15. As long as citizens continue to make their voices heard, we will get a handle on the Mexican problem

  16. Wow...being from Texas, that is great news!!!! However, here in Texas we are in a tough fight over foreign-owned toll roads that are in the middle of no where. All they do is encourage urban sprawl. I wonder how many light-rail routes could be built with the billions they spend on such programs!
