Me,my husband, and my 2 daughters ( 4yrs and 1 yr old) have recently gone to 2 birthday parties at my hubby's cousin's house. She called today letting us know that her youngest daughter has whooping cough(pertussis) and she is only 2 months old. She said the doctor's at Riley Hospital told her that everyone who came in contact with the baby needs to get the treatment for it even if they do not have symptoms. Seeing her daughter was inside the whole time and all of us were outside(and I never saw the baby either time personally) should I and my husband still go to the doctor and get the treatment? I am making a doctors appointment for my daughters tomorrow as soon as they open up just as a precaution but seeing as they have had their shots for it I don't think they have it. Its been 2 weeks since the last visit to his cousin's house and none of us have shown ANY kind of symptoms for it..so just curious if we ALL should go or just my daughters goin?AlsoI'm 7 months preg.so that worries me

  1. I would just take your daughters and ask the pediatrician if you should be treated as well.  I know my aunt works with kids all day at a school and 5 of the kids came down with it (they are special needs and couldn't have the shots because of health problems) and so the school told her to make sure to get her shot because she was at risk being around them.

  2. It would probably be best if you talked

to your Doctor about this serious con-

dition. You are pregnant, why take the

chance of something going wrong ?

  3. why risk it? definitely see a doctor.. you could have hugged, shaken hands, or even talked to someone who was in close contact with the baby

  4. My sister and brother both got pertussis from the vaccination. You, your husband, and your two daughters need to go to the doctor. Your doctor will prescribe you to a medication that you take for 2 weeks to ensure that you don't develop pertussis since you were exposed.

  5. i would go for sure to get treatment

  6. having had whooping cough....i would def. go!

its horrible....save yourself from that lol.
