Question:

Whooping Cough?

My 2 year old had a cold over the 4th of July. I pretty bad one. (So did the rest of the family) But now, she's having these coughing fits out of the blue that are almost like having something "go down the wrong pipe" with difficulty catching her breath. I went WebMd and listened to what pertussis sounds like...but I'm not sure. She just had a check up the 15th and everything looked and sounded fine. It doesn't seem to bother her, but then again, colds and flus that knock me on my butt, find her running around like her usual maniacal self! Should I call the doctor anyway?

  1. I would call because you say she's having trouble catching her breath.  Don't mess around with anything affecting breathing.  And whooping cough is bad stuff, better to be sure.

  2. It could be pertussis.  It could also be asthma.  Take her to the doctor again and insist on a proper diagnosis.
