HBK is the real icon!!!

Sting never got as high as HBK did.

I agree that Sting is a great wrestler but he never got a feud or a faction to take him as highs as Shawn did.

I would have to say HBK but who knows what would of happened if the WWE  machine had a chance to work with Sting.  HBK is also very respected in the wrestling community perhaps in the top 5 in wrestling history.

both of these 2 are in my 3 favorite wrestlers alongside the raed r superstar Edge

as for as accomplishments goes, it's defenetly Sting.

people talk about undertaker being 16-0 at WM, well what about Sting's streak, he is 11-0 at starrcad (WCW biggest PPV), and 2-0 at bound for glory, so he is 13-0!

also Sting is a 9 time world champ, and i really Don't think he had any backstage powers to be as much as a world champ as he is, also it's obvious Sting is the biggest name not to work for WWE, Sing Made his legacy in WCW, NWA, and TNA ...

HBK, he did work for AWA, but no one really remembers him there, so HBK is basicly known for his WWE work.

so accomplishments , it's Sting.

high-flying : hmm, that's a tuff one, Sting for his size is a great high-flyer, he could do a swanton bomb, a great looking crossbody , some missle dropkicks, but i'll give this 1 to HBK.....BARELY

if we compare a decade ago, it's Sting, if we compare now, it's HBK...

honestly, HBK today is a much better technical wrestler than he was a decade ago.

Sting was a great in his prime, back in 1992, not 1997 ..

so at there best, i'll make it a tie.

I would go with Sting.

Despite never working for the WWE by his own will, Sting is one of the most recognised names in sports entertainment. His matches with guys like Ric Flair put him up there with the best of them. He's also in my view someone who didn't hesitate to put people over as HBK once did.

One could argue that HBK earned his top spot with a bit of help backstage, while Sting's name is based purely on the popularity he gained with NWA/WCW.

That's an interesting question.  Sting has the distinction of being a household name despite never wrestling for WWE, which is a huge feather in his cap.  HBK can boast that he was never a recluse.  Right now, I'll have to say HBK's a better icon, because he's still able to do a lot of the things that made him great, while the bigger Sting can't do quite as much as he used to because of the wear and tear of carrying that extra 30 pounds on his body.

I feel he has earned that status more than HBK has, who seemed to have called himself "The Icon" out of nowhere without really proving much. Also, Sting being one of the biggest names and never working for the WWE does tell something about him.

Sting for sure. Although HBK just got more opportunities bcuz of wwe. Ever since sting was turned down by wwe he vowed he would never return. plus sting has made a name for himself in WCW,NWA,TNA and japanese wrestling. Compared to just WWE.
