1) Brad Lidge has saved 27/27 of his opportunities.

2) The NL MVP has come from the Phillies for the past 2 years, and Utley has a good chance of getting it this year. (Howard, 2006; Rollins, 2007; Utley, 2008 ???

3) The Phillies are ahead of the Mets in their division.

The offense of the Mets is far better than the offense of the Philles.

The Phillies have one good pitcher with Hammels, and the Mets have Santana who is better than Hammels, Pedro, who is still decent, and Maine who is pretty good as well.

Mets staff is not so hot either besides Santana.  Pedro hasn't pitched all year, Maine is injured, Pelfrey has been very inconsistent.  

Overall, both teams are very flawed, but I think that the Phils have the edge with a stronger, healthier bullpen.  Neither will do anything in the playoffs though.

Overall the Mets, they are just plagued with inconsistency. The Phillies have a horrible pitching staff.

The problem is it doesn't matter who is better what matters are wins. You don't have to be the best team to get a win you just have to out play the other team.

The Phillies are the better team. They have two MVPs in Howard and Rollins, along with MVP candidate Utley. Pitchers Cole Hamels and Brad Lidge also add to their excellence. Hands down, the phils.

Phillies are tied with the most Home Runs and they are even with pitching cuz their only notable aces are Hamels and Santana and they are the same.
