  1. although calzaghe has been the most dominant british boxer over the last 10 years, he's slowed down a little, so in my opinion it's ricky hatton.

  2. i will say in big surprise for some haters like erick and matthew that the best british boxer is not calzaghe even tho he great he is not hatton (he ok) but the best british right now is david haye easily!this guy is talented and gifted from god but his brains and arrogance will destroy him if he continues talk like this for other boxers!one thing that most americans in sports (basketball, boxing, mma, baseball, swimming this a*****e armstrong when he won in cycling) do is disrespect other ethnicities and underestimate them and talk trash!good example of it is 99% of nba players or mayweather or lance armstrong!

  3. Hatton is today. as he has got balls as he always wanted the best the big fights it was him who went looking for the best out there  went to the US to do that.

I went to the the Floyd fight and new what would happen and how it would end but if ricky was willing to fight i was will to go

even i did think he was was going to lose i  said it from the start but he had a go.what can he say only he done his best and will be always loved for that and made Floyd not menny have.

im  sorry Joe is good maybe a better boxer than hatton yes 10 years a champion that takes some beatin.

but what was he doing for 10 years ?

he played it safe so that c**p they didn't want to fight him wont wash some belve that some say they did not want to fight him

if he wanted them he would of got them in the the ring.

ricky did so why did the old better joe not do it as he followed the younger ricky.

he could of had some of these names and more.

    Jones

    Hopkins

    Taylor

    Traver

    wright

    Pavlov.

Jones and Hopkins are old a shadow of what there was.

as the press even today say Joe is the best in the UK ever.

that's fucked up and wrong as he would get knock by past champs bottom he would not of got in the ring with them

as the beat can only better whats there to get rspect  joe has not not one well a 43 year old . he is good boxer but its true  the fact is yes all them years being a champion yes no one beat him but never fort a 50 50 fight like greats will 20 80 fights and have a heart take a fight with the best.     hattons not the best to fight out of the UK llegends do it the hard way not the easy way

but if i was Hatton id sleep better than Joe

as Ricky lost but he had a go and did not take the easy path

like joe. i like joe fast hands but thats always going to be there

he never boxed the best at the rite time now does not count.

im not being hard on him its the truth

  4. Calzaghe

  5. Hands down, I think it is Joe Calzaghe. No matter how you look at his competition, he is currently the longest reigning champion with an unbeaten record. Unlike Hatton and Lewis, no one has been able to take advantage of any flaw exposures that Calzaghe may have.

Oh yeah... I'm from the US (almost forgot you asked for location).

  6. Ricky Hatton - he fought good competition and if Calzaghe had half the heart Hatton had he wouldn't be undefeated today. Hatton moved up AND fought the best (Mayweather), who cares if he lost.

  7. Nowadays it really is a toss up, Hatton is my favourite but i would have to say that Calzaghe may just edge it, i suppose Rickys venture up to Welter to fight the best pound for pound fighter on the planet shouldnt detract from his legacy but i would have to say that i think it does, if Calzaghe goes on to defeat Jones Jr and then Pavlik before retiring then i think he may go down as the best British boxer ever.

Alltime there are a few names that spring to mind. Lennox Lewis has to be up there and also some of the fighters from bygone days like Jimmy Wilde deserve a mention, Ken Buchanan was another great that dont get much credit and who can forget the days of Benn, Eubank, Collins and Watson all very good fighters that gave us so much joy with some great and memorable fights. Overall though i would maybe go with Lennox Lewis as the best British boxer ever, mainly because he is a boxer who ran the most prestigious division in boxing for a good period of time and disposed of some top opposition on the way. Also he is within our lifetimes and we witnessed it all happen first hand, its hard to put Wilde ahead of Lennox when there isnt much footage of him available even though his record is much better than any of the other British boxers.

  8. Calzaghe by far.-Virginia
