To date..... johnny wilkinson? yeah right! piiiilllease, maybe in the past however for the past 3 yrs or so his performance has been shoddy, percentage kicking.... declining...... and the injuries that man has had..... doesnt even rate a pu$$y mention in my book!

Habana? eeeeeeh, he is fast and without a doubt can score tries but has he got all the atributes of a best rugby player? maybe in a year or so but not right now.

Ritchie Mccaw yep right up there on form and break down play, yes could last a full 80min and is a worthy enough contender however his captaincy at the RWC was sadly dissapointing (especially in the QF).

Id have to say that Im basing one of my picks largely on his performance at the RWC because I certainly didnt know who he was before then, Argentinas' Felipe Contepomi - took charge of the backs and led argentina to a win against france, a solid performance throughout the tournament.

And Percy Montgomery - need I say more, one of the best all round solid players I have seen in awhile.

wilkinson is good but not the best.  If he had a better backline outside of him and he ran more maybe we'd see more of his game.

IMHO you can't go past richie mccaw.  He runs around the field for a full 80 minutes like a demon and the opposition are afraid to go to ground in a tackle because of his ability to pilfer.  In a game where you have to go to ground richie will give you more turnover ball than any other player in the world.

And for all the people saying habana? please.  He's got speed to burn but what else?  He's not as elusive as tuquiri or sivivatu in broken play, percy at the back has saved his behind numerous times for being out of position and is undeniably one of the ugliest players ever to don a rugby jersey!
