Whose defence is better?Gavaskar's or Dravid's?

I have been told that these two are the batsmen with best defence.But who is better?

Very difficult to pick one, b'coz Gavaskar was playing natural defence, but due to improvement in technology Dravid's batting [defence] technique has improved. Dravid had the technology to improve but where as Gavaskar can't do so. Even then I would say Gavaskar's defence is better.

Both played in different decade whereas during Gavaskar period W. Indies & Aus had best fast bowling attack against such fast, bouncy and bodyline attack he showed better deffence.

"WALL of INDIA" is the best reference to the one man stand for the team defence have solid & proper book style technique to play defence and cricketing shots against both spin and fast bowler

Gavaskar had probaly one of the best defenses against fast bowlers ever. but he struggled a tad against the spinners, where as Dravids technique allround is virtually immaculate. It takes at least a very good ball to get dravid out early on, and when dravid is set, it takes either a freak delievery or loss in concentration.

Both are amongst the greatest batsman of the world of their time. Both are having a magnificent technic, great patience,fantastic shot selection and both have played some very memorable innings. Very difficult to distingues this two great masters of cricket. but considering the qualitie of bowling that gavaskar has faced during his carrier, is far greater than what drawid has faced so far. So i think this may be the only difference between the two and in my opinion sunil gavaskar is better batsman and has a  better defence.

The record talks in favor of Gavaskar as in his time there were best pacemen around the world. But I have watched Dravid more closely and record always does not say the right thing.So I just cant find any answer.

Gavaskar's defence is better and his defensive quality is more creditable than Dravid because Gavaskar is not a defensive player by nature, but Dravid is.

While Dravid's defence is no doubt good,it still leaves much to be desired when compared with Sunil Gavaskar's.Simply

stonewalling alone does not constitute the classic defence.

Stonewalling has its own merits ,particularly in crucial stages of a match,but defence with style is a pleasure to watch.

Rahul's defence is boring to watch but Sunil's is full of style,class and much more.Give me Sunil any day for

entertainment even during defensive play.
