Well, it was an accident. He didn't mean to punch his wife for real. I don't think that was any one's fault. And I'm sorry, but I don't think it's fair that people are bashing Chris Jericho. It wasn't Chris Jericho's fault. You could even see the look of surprise on his face after he saw what he did.

A little of both, because it was Shawn that lied about his injury, but it was Jericho that hurt him just because he played a little joke. He is a legend. Sure, Chris has been around for a while, but he can't beat the career of The Heartbreak Kid. He was the first wrestler I ever saw when I first got into wrestling.
