    1.  Someone was trying to say lips, and the prononsed it lisp, and everyone just thought it was funny becacause she had a lisp

    2. When they were trying to write lips in the great big book of words there was a typo, and anytime anyone would say it, there would be a lisp, so it just cought on

  6. Lisp comes from the Old English "wlyspian", which developed into Middle English "lyspen" and later Present Day English "lisp".  It is reported to be of imitative origin, i.e. it was some wiseguy who was taking the mick!

Either than, or it was the same person who called people who can't find the right word when they talk "semantic paraphasias" and people who are supposed to help those with communication difficulties the ridiculously long title "Speech and Language Therapists"!

  8. i've always thought of it as a conspiracy. also, if you have a speech impediment, it's hard for you to say impediment and if you can't enunciate, you can't say the word enunciate...lol just my opinion.
