Whose opinion do you agree with most?

"We need cheap electricity for our homes and for industry. It is hard luck about the environment"

or

"We must protect te environment and stop pollution. It is hard luck that we will have to pay more for electricity"

Whatever one you choose,please give a reason why :)

That's like asking if we'd prefer to take arsenic or strychnine.

Neither answer is 100% correct.

We have to come up with solutions for both problems but, at the moment, the energy shortage and high price is the more immediate problem.

Both are written by uninformed people with agendas.  We have the available technology to effectively produce safe, relatively inexpensive electrical power in huge amounts.  But mention the words "nuclear generating plants" and watch the people who have no idea what they are talking about faint.

By the way, these are the same people who have caused the problems of the nuclear generators by insisting that everything be modified every time there is any kind of small possible improvement available instead of completing a perfectly serviceable plant, putting it into production and modifying future designs.  Design it; build it; use it.

Well ask yourself this? what about people that live paycheck to paycheck?  A LOT of people in this country can not afford oil prices now.  

The real question is do you recommend that the government helps everyone out and protects the environment or do you think we should hurt the environment and not have the government pay peoples mortgages?

I think there are ways we can drill somewhat efficiently in Alaska.  That said We should do that for a short term fix and be working aggressively to find a permeate fix.  Unfortunately we have a fix but its illegal (Hemp).  YES hippies I just said hemp.
