  1. Just join one and come back and tell us.....

  2. Firstly, please understand that SOCOM is an acronym that stands for Special Operations Command.  SOCOM is not a unit of the Special Forces, but the command and control authority for them.  When you say "Who is tougher," it is often an objective question.  The special forces units are designed and trained to operate in certain circumstances that are particularly in their niche.  For instance, the United States Air Force has a little-known Special Ops force known as the Pararescuemen.  Their mission is to conduct conventional and unconventional rescue operations, and NO unit in the US military is better at it than they are.

As far as who has the most respect, popular culture is often the largest influence on that.  Back when John Wayne was still a big movie star, the movie "The Green Berets" made that unit the Special Ops unit of choice during that time.  When Chuck Norris made the movies about the Army's Delta Force in the early 80s, the focus of the new generation was on them.  Now, it would probably be the United States Navy Seals, because of the movie with Charlie Sheen.

But to try and be more specific and to bring some technicality to it, the US Navy Seals are designed to operate in so many different environments with such an incredibly high degree of skill (after all, the SEAL stands for Sea,  Air, and Land), that they are probably, pound for pound, the premier Special Forces outfit in the US military.

  3. Watch the programs on the military channel about Navy SEAL's, especially when they lift the 450 pound log over their heads.  I personally say the Green Berets earns more respect but it takes a long *** time to qualify

  4. Get that out of your head. You don't have what it takes. Go back to your videogames.

  5. You can't just simply answer this question. To be honest with you if your main worry is being "tougher" then I don't really care to even answer this question. SOCOM are Navy SEALS. They are both very highly trained and both recieve excellent respect. Although once you go through the training and realize that most of this country doesn't even respect troops anymore.

  6. Green Berets are trained to kill with their bare hands.

  7. "whose" as opposed to "who is'"! Your IQ only qualifies you as gun fodder not Green Beret or a Navy Seal!

  8. don't forget combat controllers!

  9. A detonated nuke.......

In all seriousness, each is good at what they do.

To be able to serve in any is a honor.

BTW - SOCOM = Special Operations Command = encompasses SEALs and Special Forces.

  10. They are all good at what they do, and they each have a different special job.

  11. Both Army Special Forces, and Navy Seals are "tough". However, their main objective is to build relations and gather inteligence relative to the mission at hand.Only when they lose control or when they are supporting regualar units do they act "tough". In my experience they are awsome people that do some sweet training and operations. Also due to the war they primarily do the same operations as regualar troops-however the length and frequency of their deployments are different. Please don't think it's about being tough, it's the wrong attitude. It takes an extreme amount of physical and even more mental stamina to complete the initial training, and it is all about teamwork-especially in their selection process. Best wishes in your endeavours.
