Mature tomatoes can be hastened by exposure to sun ,already picked off the plant will do well in a well sealed brown paper bag,check regularly for those on the point of ripening & store separately .

Do not put in a sunny window sill..it will scald the sugars inside the tomatoes and they will be inferior... Put them  in a brown paper bag with a banana..this banan releases ethylene gas that is a ripening agent found in alot of fruits/veggies....I will get some info on this for you..Notice the 3rd paragraph on item number 1(steps)..it SPECIFICALLY tells you not to put in direct sunlight..At the bottom of this page is the paper bag method I use..and below will be pictures of mine I have ripened...

Provide Direct Sunlight to the plants. If however, you're talking about tomatoes that are ' Not" on the vine & from an outside plant. Then put them in your window sill of a window that recieves full sunlight ( morning or afternoon sun).
