  1. I would - i'm Russian and now living in the Netherlands with my Dutch friend. But i have my parents and brother in Russia, i hope in the future to settle there - at least as long as my parents are around.

  2. sure..but not forever and not just anywhere in russia :-p

  3. Well, coinccidentally I have been poundering over this question for a while, as I was born and lived in Russia till the age of 17, spending the last 10 years in the U.S. But, my future husband lives in Russia, and had never lived abroad, not having even a slightest desire to do so.

I think I would not mind moving back if certain conditions are met:

    1. I remain an employee of U.S. company (or European business), which will assure a normal, by all standards, salary, and ability to have a Pension Plan in the U.S., as I have already been contributing to it for years.

    2. I am allowed to keep my U.S. passport - and considering how cold the relationship between the two countries is getting, I am not sure if this will be possible.

    3. I am provided with the standards of living similar to those of the U.S.

Good job is too broad of a term. For me, all of the above conditions, and some more, would have to be met. There are a lot of things that make me uneasy about living in Russia. For instance, as a woman, I am terrified of giving birth in Russia, as the stories I heard from some of my classmates are simply too gruesome.

  4. I have worked and spent a fair bit of time in Russia. My job involved constant travel in and out of the country.

Given the cold winters and cost of living I would live in Russia but it would have to be a good job if I was to consider a year or more there.

Moscow is the centre for business and a very exciting city but St Petersburg is certainly more beautiful and down to earth.

  5. simply put, yes.

  6. I guess it depends on what you are looking for and where you are from. I'm an American and I've been living in Russia for the past seven years. If you have a sense of adventure, a thick skin and you want to learn about a different culture, then it's great idea. Moscow or Saint Petersburg would be nice, but if you want to really learn about the people and culture, you should pick another city. Just like living in New York would not qualify someone as having really experienced American life. Besides, if you have a good paying job, your money will go a lot further in other cities.

I don't regret coming here and I've made a lot of good friends here also. But, you will be really frustrated a lot of the time if you try to compare everything to back home; just accept things for what they are and you'll enjoy your time a lot more. I would tell you that it's a great experience.

  7. Oh, yes!!!
