Wht'a going on on the rail system?

i am coming back to blighty at the end of march and want to travel on the train... from grantham to london on the 8th april it takes 3 and a half hours for a journey that usually only takes one... what's that all about?

There arer delays due to maintenance. You know it has to be done! Just like when you put your car in for a service every year, the differance being that you will probably have to get a coach between certain points. SO STOP MOANING! Let the railways get their jobs done!

Yes I regularly drive from St Helen's to Mansfield on a good run I can do it in one and three quarter hrs,Once caught the train from Mansfield to St Helen's missed the direct one from Nottingham to Liverpool,Started at 1700 hrs and got to St Helen's 2330 hrs c**p ain't it?

April the 8th is Easter Sunday. As you say, a journey to Grantham on that day will taken nearly 3 hours. One on-line rail site I checked wouldn't even give me any times for the journey  on that day. But I was able to find out via national rail enquiries that the lengthy journey time is the result of engineering works which often take place over public holidays. Your journey would be from King's Cross Thameslink to Luton, about 45 mins,  then bus Luton to Stevenage, 30 mins, then train Stevenage to Grantham, 50 mins total time 2.40
