  1. well you already got the defintion of bidah fromt the other users, but about doing bidah, u should ask the wahabis (aka Yazid lovers), they know all about commiting bidah, by spreading fitna, accusing people of lies, lieing about others, blowing up themselves, behead other Muslims, support and defend enemies of Islam (like the son of a dog Yazid), kissing a$$ to jews and americans, many other reasons too

  2. Bid'ah means 'innovation' : anything new introduced to Islam that is not mentioned in the Qur'an or the Sunnah, and both the innovation with its innovator are into h**l:

On the authority of `A'ishah (mother of the believers), who said : The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"He who innovates something in this matter of ours (Islam), that is not of it, it is to be rejected."

    Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

  3. In Arabic, the name bid'ah means, "the unprecedented made up thing."

Allah says about Prophet Muhammad, (pbuh), "I am not a bid'ah (new thing) among the Messengers." [46:9] The tafseer of this verse is, "I am not the first Messenger but there were other Messengers before me."

Linguistically, the word bid'ah is used to name and describe something new. One that has no previous example, both the good and the evil, but mostly evil.

Ash-Shatibi said, "bid'ah is a made-up way, a way introduced into the religion that emulates the authorized (authentic) way, and is followed and observed in order to worship Allah more." (al-latisam, 1/37)

lbn Rajab said, "Bid'ah is a newly invented matter which has no evidence to prove its origin in the Shan 'ah. If it has an origin in the Shari'ah, then it is not considered bid'ah even if it is called as such from the linguistic point of view." (Jami al-Uloom, 265)

As-Soyouti said, "Bid'ah is an act that contradicts the Shari 'ah, adds to the Shariah, or omits from it." (al-Amru bili-ltibaa, 88)

    ______________________________________...

All types of bid'ah are bad and forbidden. There is no such thing as a good bid'ah because all types of bid'ah are in opposition of Shari'ah.

Some people try to take advantage of a report from Umar ibnul Khattab(r.a) in which he mentioned "good bid'ah," as an evidence that their bid'ah is also good.

But the rule is very simple: if it has no evidence in the Qur'an, Sunnah, ljmaa or Qiyaas, it is a bid'ah and it is haram.[[[Read More about Umer(r.a) story:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Bid'ah includes all additions into, and omissions from, the religion. Omission here does not pertain to those who are intentionally neglectful; these are sinners. Nor does it pertain to those who do not perform certain acts because they are optional.

    ______________________________________...

Thus, it is very important to understand that bid'ah is an invented matter, something not sustained by Qur'an, Sunnah, ljmaa, nor understood from supporting evidences and concluded by reliable scholars. Bid'ah, therefore, can easily be recognized. It lacks evidence.

Obvious examples are: prohibiting oneself or others from the halal meat and clothes which Allah made lawful. Allah says, "0 you who believe! Do not prohibit the good things that Allah made lawful to you." [5:87] Or making prohibited things lawful like adultery, alcohol consumption, usury, etc.

  4. [3:18] GOD bears witness that there is no god except He, and so do the angels and those who possess knowledge. Truthfully and equitably, He is the absolute god; there is no god but He, the Almighty, Most Wise.

[37:35] When they were told, "Laa Elaaha Ella Allah [There is no other god beside GOD]," they turned arrogant.

what about present day shahadah of sunnis and shias ,,isnt it a bidah according to your own defination ?

in fact it is not a bidah but shirk

    @@ muhyil al din..... brother

[46:6] And when the people are summoned (on the Day of Judgment), their idols will become their enemies, and will denounce their idolatry.

[46:7] When our revelations were recited to them, perfectly clear, those who disbelieved said of the truth that came to them, "This is obviously magic!"

[46:8] When they say, "He fabricated this," say, "If I fabricated this, then you cannot protect me from GOD. He is fully aware of everything you scheme. He suffices as a witness between me and you. He is the Forgiver, Most Merciful."

[46:9] Say, "I am not different from other messengers. I have no idea what will happen to me or to you. I only follow what is revealed to me. I am no more than a profound warner."

[46:10] Say, "What if it is from GOD and you disbelieved in it? A witness from the Children of Israel has borne witness to a similar phenomenon, and he has believed, while you have turned arrogant. Surely, GOD does not guide the wicked people."

when 37:35 and 3:18 and the whole Glorious Quran is the Utterences of Prophet Muhammed then why hadith books changed the original shahadah to present day shahadah !

  5. A bid'ah is anything introduces into islam after the death of the prophet that invole Aqeedah, minhaj, tawhid, and so on

  6. finding a new way in Islam. adding some new methods.

  7. Bidah is haram and the things you invented yourself and connected it to your religion.

Like celebrating the brithday of Prophet Mohammad pbuh.

    and many other things.

  8. Innovations.

  9. Bidah are the extra things added to Islam, thinking that those things would give people a greater reward. The Prophet (saw) and his Companions never practised those things. They are also not told in the Quran. Bidah is a considered a great sin. Islam doesnot need any additions or omitions as it is perfectly designed by Allah and completely delivered by the Prophets.

Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: "The Quran consisted of five things: things lawful, things unlawful, clear and positive percepts, mysteries and examples. Then consider that lawful which is there declared to be so, and that which is forbidden as unlawful; obey the precepts, beleive in the mysteries and take warning from the examples."

Eid Milad-un-Nabi is, for eg, a bidah b/c neither the Prophet (saw) nor his companions ever celebrated it and in Islam there are only two eids, i.e. Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.

  12.     Jabir b. Abdullah said: When Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) delivered the sermon, his eyes became red, his voice rose. and his anger increased so that he was like one giving a warning against the enemy and saying:" The enemy has made a morning attack on you and in the evening too." He would also say:" The last Hour and I have been sent like these two." and he would join his forefinger and middle finger; and would further say:" The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allah, and the beet of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error." He would further say:, I am more dear to a Muslim even than his self; and he who left behind property that is for his family. and he who dies under debt or leaves children (in helplessness). the responsibility (of paying his debt and bringing up his children) lies on

    Muslim

    ...

He then said: I enjoin you to fear Allah, and to hear and obey even if it be an Abyssinian slave, for those of you who live after me will see great disagreement. You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error
