  1. I try to use natural cures when possible and have used things like garlic powder (a dollar at the dollar store) or black pepper and have heard of using a mixture of vinegar and soap but don't know what parts of each.  You could try setting ant traps next to them.  In another forum I read spreading coffee grounds around the plants as a barrier but you've got to rid the plants of the ants first so I dunno.  Other ideas include using the sticky paper used for catching mice or a fly strip tacked down (or several of them) or you may have to finally cave and use that seven dust which you can usually get fairly cheap at the dollar store if they're not sold out for the season.  What a shame to lose your berries.  I never had that problem before.

  2. Ants can be a real problem around Sweet berries - I would suggest you look for the ant holes and pour boiling water directly into them.

It may be too late for this years berries but it is the only solution for the next season that I can think of.

  3. Go to your local feed or farmer  Store, Explain

That way you get the proper pesticide.  That may not be to harmful.

    Wash thoroughly before eat.
