roads, as in residential areas where they have different types like

street,

lane,

road,

drive,

Or if you still dont get my question...heres an example

whats the difference between a lane, drive, street, and a road?

  1. There's no official difference, but usually road and street are bigger, lane and drive are smaller.


  2. The spelling or each word. Other than that, they are all similar.

  3. Lanes and Drives are usualy private sectors and  streets and roads are more public type thoroughfares...

  4. Just the name.

    Sometimes a boulevard or parkway is named so due to a center island down the street with traffic flowing one way down each side.  Also, courts are named so due to being a cul-de-sac (a dead end street that ends with a short loop at the end to turn around).  There are a few more that are named due to how they were built but I cant remember them at the moment.

    It really gets interesting (especially for the post office) when you have two streets with the same name that intersect but have different terms, like madison avenue and madison lane.
