ok, a couple months ago my mouse got this weird ear thing. i didn't really see her scratching and it didnt look like she was in pain. i asked online here and alot of people said to wait it out, i waited, and things didnt get better, they got worse. she was now looking like she was in pain and scratched her ear. she also walked funny. so then my friend suggested tht she was allergic to the bedding, so i switched to carefresh about 6 days ago. she is laying in her food bowl rite now and looks very weak and tired. i dont think its mites because i have another girl mouse in the same cage and she has not caught it after a month. i also cleaned the cage with boiling hot water and threw away all of the wooden toys. idk wht to clean her ears with. i looked for mite spray just incase it was mites at our local petstore, but they didnt have any mite spray. i cant take her to the vet cuz my parents dont want to pay $100 or more for a mouse, and we dont know if our local vets take mice.i really want to know wht to clean her ears out with the most. is she going to die? please answer as soon as possible.

  1. It could be any number of things, an ear infection, a tumor, something topical. She needs a vet, if for nothing more than a humane euthanasia.

In the future please don't get animals you are not prepared to provide with proper care.

  2. We need pics.

  3. Pics or a better description of the "weird ear thing" would help.

  4. aw I'm really sorry. this happened to my hamster to. turned out he had a reoccurring mite problem. this led to puss coming out from all the scratching he did and after he got an abscess. I went to the vet and got him a few ivermectin shots (about 50 dollars) to cure the mites but as I sed before, it was a reoccurring thing for my hamster. theres not much you can do now. I would just hope for the best, please don't use any products that claim to cure her because those only make it worst. The Best thing to do is to go to the vet and see what they can do. Look in the ads because sometimes they have coupons for first time clients

    Good luck
