According to folklore, vampires turn to dust when they are killed.

Is it ever explained why that happens?

  1. Because their power is no longer holding their several centuries dead bodies together. In many myths young vampires do not, in fact, disintegrate. Merely those who have been around the block a few times.

  2. i think thats making their effect since u've already mentioned that its a show...

if these vampires in the movie died and fell onto the floor like a normal person, there won't be any special effects to make the movie nicer and more interesting.

but i personally do think that vampires exists

due to the fact that Westerners and Asians believe that they exists and were noted in history during different time lines

  3. They really don't. I don't know where or how they came up with that idea. I saw the burial or a suspected vampire {documentary filmed} in Eastern Europe. No disintegration. And the stake is actually to hold the body of the suspected vampire in their coffin when buried. Not to kill them.
