and flogging repeats of Aussie performances ad naseum, instead of showing some of the other sports???? Shooting, anyone? Archery? Basketball? Handball? It is the olympics, not just a swim meet. I find myself watching sbs with more frequency in a vain attempt to escape the constant pool action. As I type more repeats of aussie swims are being flogged.

  1. Totally agree.  Sick, sick, sick of swimming.  They just had half an hour of Stephanie Rice and replays of her gold medal swims (not having a go at Stephanie as she is awesome).

  2. If we were forced to watch as much shooting and archery as we are swimming I'm sure every Australian would soon be familiar with the participants of those sports.

I find it kind of annoying that a medal in one sport seems to be worth more that a medal in another, all those athletes work hard to get there and deserve the same recognition.

  3. australians are very good at swimming, it's one of the sports we always seem to do well in. you would know yourself...Stephanie Rice, Eamon Sullivan, Grant Hackett. now, i'm no swimming guru, but i don't think i could list one shooter, or and archer. basketball seems to be shown a bit, but, not as much as swimming. i guess because we are so talented in that area, viewers seem to enjoy watching something we are good at rather than somebody not many people have really heard of. can you list as many shooters for australia as you can swimmers? i agree, though, we shouldn't need to see countless repeats when there's a live archery final on right there and then

  4. you can watch whatever you want. go to the nbc olympics page. On demand for every sport and live streaming as well

  5. I agree, swimming is a good thing to watch but it can be to much of a good thing. I would like to see Australia win in the pool as much as the next Aussie but it gets very, very, VERY annoying seeing the same race 10 or 15 time a day (Stephie Rice and Phelps's anyone ?).

I would like to see sports that are not given much coverage but can be very interesting to see like Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Archery (as you said), Handball, Soccer, Netball. There are so many other sports to be viewed that just covering mostly swimming is a insult to the thousand of other people who are competing in the Games too.

Edit - Prime example, Last night I was watching the women's basketball but they cut to the swimming for like 20 or 30 mins and missed half of the game which I was quite enjoying. It might seem like I am having a whinge but it gets beyond a joke sometimes.

  6. Is channel 7 the same as NBC or channel 11? Cause its a total poolfest with them too.

  7. To the girl above. The fact that swimmers seem to be doing extremely well doesnt justify anything at all. These athletes trained for 4 yrs not to be discarded simply because they didnt do well.

Quite frankly with all the attention swimming is getting im becoming a little bored and frustrated. It seems they like to dwell on who is hot and who isnt. They talk themselves up before they have even raced and when they dont do as well as the media had hoped they call it a disappointment or a failure. Thats pathetic like seriously bring on the gymnastics

  8. maybe it has to do with broadcasting rights.
