  1. This comes from Back in the olden days, like before there was ever asphalt pavement. Labor Day is like the signal for fall, which is frequently rainy and things would get muddy. So wearing white was really a common sense no-no, because it would only get filthy-dirty! I have no idea how this became a fashion rule, but I personally don't follow it.

  2. I have not been able to ascertain a definitive answer to your question.

After perusing several internet sites, I have concluded the "don't wear white after Labor Day" was a "class" decision. The "upper class" of the 1800's determined that wearing white after Labor Day was "gauche"; therefore wearing white after Labor Day became unacceptable.

Unfortunately, the "lower class" people had to wear what they had--white if that was what they had; therefore, those who could afford to "closet" their "whites" for darker colors, were considered "socially elite".

Today is no different. Those of us who cannot "afford" what our next door neighbor can, are considered "inadequate".

  3. email is unblocked

  4. I never understood why we had to obey that silly rule

  5. because the corporations want you to buy new clothes

plus who the F**K follows stupid rules like this anyway.

this is americ,a I'll wear what I want when I want, and the those who make these rules can just eat S**t!!

  6. High society only really followed that rule, but no one has for several years now. We wear what we want when we want all year.

  7. white is a summer and spring color, and labor day marks the end of summer.

  8. That's one of those old rules that don't seem to be followed any more.
