Why Andy Murray will not win the US Open 2012 title? – Tennis Special
World number four, Andy Murray, is highly unlikely to perform at the top of his form at the forth coming US Open at New York. He is already squandered an opportunity to please his fans by winning a title at London Olympics. It
was the second event played at his home soil but despite the stupendous home support the Scot was unable to defy the odds and grab the gold medal.
So, now the whole British media is talking about his chances of winning the US Open that starts in September. It might not be a great thing just few weeks before the start of the event because different opinions from all over the
Great Britain can lower the confidence of the number one Briton.
Everyone knows that negative publicity is sold like hot cakes and Murray is the victim of that in the recent past and he is still going to go through the hatred until he manages to shut down the critics with a Grand Slam Championship
trophy in his hands.
Now, apart from the psychological pressure that the 24-year-old Briton has to go through, there are some other challenges that will come his way during the US Open. First of all, he is not the top seed or the hot favourite to grab
the title. He is the fourth favourite according to the seeding and most probably lesser than that if the possibilities are combined together.
Roger Federer is in a sublime run of form and the top seed at the year’s final Grand Slam Championship at New York. He will be bidding to gun down everyone in his way to grab his record 18th Grand Slam Championship of
the career.
Moreover, the Spanish number one, Rafael Nadal, is eager to hit the courts after a long wait at the sidelines due to a niggling knee injury that erupted during the Wimbledon Championships in June. He is not going to ease pressure
this time around and must be fresh than anybody else because he was not in action at the Olympics Games, earlier this month.
Novak Djokovic is still alive and bidding to defend his title at New York. He must be furious to have lost the number one spot to the Swiss Maestro at Wimbledon; will surely be looking to close down the gap by not allowing anyone
to sneak near the title. He needs to defend his title successfully to sustain the gap of points; otherwise the Swiss legend will run away a bit too far that will lower the chances of reclaiming the number one spot for the Serb.
So, these three iconic superstars who share 29 out of 30 Grand Slam titles played in the recent past are looking to take the tally to 30. Murray should pray to Lord that all these three future Hall of Famers are injured in some
way or the other; otherwise the Briton will stay Slam-less in 2012 as well. All the hype about him will be flushed down the gutter and the wait will still continue.
