  1. I dont know. I had mine pierced with an ear gun in 4th grade and there is nothing wrong

  2. Ear guns aren't bad. Where did you get your information from? If you haven't seen or felt any signs of an infection then don't worry about it.

  3. Well, I didn't know they were bad!

I had my ears pierced with a gun when I was a baby and then I had it re-done at age 5 because the hole disappeared. Nothing wrong has ever happened to my ears. My mom told me that they DO sterilize the earring before they pierce it through, and actually it's not blunt if you ask them to use a sharp point. My mom asked the lady who pierced my ears to please use the sharpest point they had.

How else are you supposed to pierce your ears... with a needle?

Haven't there been multiple reports from people who have gotten theyre ears pirced with just a needle saying that they got infections, the hole is too big or small, and even that they had to have amputations done?

So yeah, I dont think theres a problem with ear guns at all!

  4. they arent.

    duuuh.

  5. ear guns are only bad for the hard, top part of your ear.

    they ruin the gun.

but it should be alright for the bottem

  6. from what ive heard, the ear guns can shatter cartilage bones when people get their cartilage pierced. when that happens, i think the outer ear gets a big infection and has to be removed.

  7. It depends on what part of your ear you're getting pierced with the gun. It's not bad when you're piercing the lobe. There shouldn't be an issue with sterilization since the part that's actually going through your ear is the stud and therefore is not used again on someone else. The parts that touch your ear are thrown away after use, some places even use "guns" that are completely thrown away after each use. I have four piercings in each ear that were done with a gun and I never had any problems with any of those holes.

The problem with piercing guns comes in when you're wanting to have cartilage pierced. The gun will "shatter" the cartilage, which will hurt a lot and have a hard time healing. If you're wanting any cartilage pierced you should definitely go to a professional piercer and have it done with a needle.

  8. I got mine pierced a couple years ago with an ear gun and nothing went wrong... at least I think nothing went wrong...

  9. obviously, not everyone has a problem following a gun piercing - otherwise more people would be aware there's an issue!

    the problems are:

    - they are used by untrained shop workers with no knowledge (usually) of the relevant health and safety, hygiene and healing issues

    - while some parts are thrown away after each use, the major components of the gun are not, and they aren't sterilised (being wiped with alcohol does not sterilise)

    - the earring is not sharp, so it's basically a blunt end being forced through your ear - this increases trauma to the ear, and increases the potential healing times

if you get pierced by a professional, you get:

    - single-use sterilised piercing needles

    - fit-for-purpose jewellery

    - professionally trained piercers with experience in health, safety, and knowledge of healing

it's up to you, but i certainly wouldn't get anything more than an ear lobe (if that) pierced with a gun

  10. 1-They can't sterilize them, which is bad cause you can get things that way..2-They are pushing a blunt object though you are,its not really piercing it like a needle does...3-People who use piercing guns don't know nothing about proper piercing and of the body...I have had my ear pierced twice with a gun (when i was young and did not know they were bad.) and both times failed, first time the girl pierced them way crooked it was very noticeable..The second time it got infected...Now i have 12 ear piercings all with needles none have gotten infected and all are straight....
