  1. make the gold fish bole bigger as he getes bigger

  2. goldfish bowls are 1 gal a 1in goldfish needs 3gal and should be in 20gal+ so u could have 6  1in  goldfish or a 6 in goldfish

  3. How old is it?

If it's 10 years old and a foot long then it's doing alright.

While it is possible to keep a goldfish alive in a bowl, often for many years, it's hard work (you have to do more water changes) and hard on the fish. The bowl will allways contain toxic ammonia and low oxygen levels. Not the sort of environment you would like to live in is it?

A goldfish in a bowl is surviving, not thriving.

  4. They are too small!  How would you like to live  24/7 in a room the size of a prison cell? Not good for the fish long term - think about what you'd like to live in - a mansion? Get one for the fish!

  5. Poor goldfish, its cruel. Buy a tank with a lil air pump and filter system and some decor. Your fish will be happy, healthy and live so much longer.

  6. you can get over-sized gold fish bowls... my fish lives in one... he never tried to swim away!

no, seriously, so long as it's big enough, not overcrowded, has regular water change, plants, oxygen pills etc... should be fine.

  7. They are not anything that keeps the water in is good for a goldfish.

  8. when my fish in the pond bred I managed to save the last 1 and put it in a bowl. when it was a little bigger, it was put in a tank with water and air filters. goldfish produce alot of waste and bowls dont have filters to keep the water clean. if the water isnt clean the fish can die. take your fish out of the bowl buy a cheap tank and filter and it will be alot happier.the tank and filter will cost about £30. my little fish 'Lucky' has 2 new friends in his tank and is growing very well.

  9. yes they are bad because they cause stunting and high ammonia levels which is really bad for the fish.

  10. Round and round and round and round and round and round and round...

Put yourself in the goldfish's place, a bowl is WAY too small and the water will quickly turn stale. Goldfish are hardy but they will die if the water quality drops too low; they should be kept in an aquarium tank and you should familiarize yourself with how to keep fish and maintain an aquarium - there are lots of guides on Google.

  11. Because a fancy goldfish should grow to be 8" long and live 10 to 15 years.  When they are kept on bowls it stunts their external growth but their internal organs keep growing.  Since there is no space for them the fish die a painful death from organ failure.  There's also the more immediate issue of poor water quality and low oxygen levels.

  12. lots of goldfish seem to manage OK in a goldfish bowl, but, because they are spherical in shape the opening at the top is narrow and, therefore, restricts the air flow into the water.

A tank, on the other hand, has a bigger surface area - due to it's shape it is usually the same all over - and can admit more air into the water than a bowl.

Does that make sense?  I know what I mean, sorry if I'm not very good at explaining it!

  13. Because they're too small, goldfish are messy so the water chemistry can change rapidly in so small an environment.   Also goldfish grow to be huge.  There are some places where it is actually illegal to keep goldfish in a bowl.

Can I ask how long you've had it?  You COULD live in a small room like your bathroom all your life, but would you be happy?
