  1. There are several reasons and I can't answer for everyone. I have no problem with s*x education as long as I am the one doing it. I don't want my kids to go to school and learn about this stuff in the 5th grade via video like I did. To me that only spawns curiosity. I would rather sit my child down at home and inform them in an adult manner. Kids mature at different rates and some kids are not ready for "the talk" in elementary school. Some kids are. I think it is case by case per child. I want my kids to know what I believe about s*x. I believe that it is better to wait because of STD's and  unwanted pregnancy. I also think it is better to wait because of my faith. Whether you believe the same as I do or not, I should be able to teach my children as I see fit. Yes, they should be educated but only when they are mature enough for it and I don't want a teacher with different values teaching my kid what they think is right. I am the parent and teaching my kids about s*x is my responsibility as a parent. It is not the governments job.

If you do that then you are taking on the rights of parents away and giving them to the government. If some kids parents don't teach them then there should be an optional class they can take, but my kids shouldn't be made to take that class when I am their parent and should have the right to teach my kids myself.

  2. A complete lack of common sense

  3. Abstinence always works. No better form of birth control. Now getting people to abstain is a different matter.

There is no "safe s*x" - would you knowingly have "safe s*x" with someone you knew had AIDS.... of course not.

  4. s*x = babies

what is so hard to understand?

People need to step up and be responsible! Murder is not acceptable!

Wow, 4 thumbs down for saying "murder isn't acceptable". Truly sad that people don't value human life.

  5. Yes as you said, lets be realistic, abortion is the absolute cold hearted murder of the innocent. Realistic indeed

  6. Because, most pro-lifers don't like the idea of unmarried people having s*x at all. It's not about disease.  It's not about unwanted pregnancies, it's about the s*x itself, they don't want people who aren't married to have it.

  7. The answer to your question is simple.

Most 'pro-lifers' are right wing religious nut jobs,  I know because I WAS one. I am much better now.  Hate if you will. Hate also is forbidden in the 'good book'.  Anyway, most of those individuals and groups feel that s*x is nasty (even after marriage) and it is sinful and will lead to ruin.  That is why they don't want 's*x ed'.  They say they want to teach their children on their own and in their own way.  Problem is that many don't.  But if you notice they are some of the first to complain about the teen pregnancy rates, no valid solutions, but lots of voice.

  8. Religion.

Any sane person knows the way to stop the number of abortions and STDs is education.

This is why so many schools are giving up Fed funding.

  9. You have to practice abstinence for it to work & many kids just will not. It would be better to teach them safe s*x with the lesson that it is always better to wait. I waited although my mom always told me if I ever needed birth control all I had to do was ask. She never said we would not discuss it but said she knew it was not always easy. She also taught me safe s*x.She made me feel safe to approach her on the subject. Some of my friends were not so lucky.Never was my mom beating me with moral issues or judgments. She let me know what she wanted for me & why but realize I would have to decide for myself. She said above all she wanted me safe. I did not realize how lucky I was to have her till I got older.

  10. You are right.  A lot of young people who learned anything at all about s*x, abstinance, birth control, pregnancy, abortion, etc. learned it in family life education at school.  And we can't be too black and white about abortion either without knowing all the circumstances.  Abortion as a method of birth control shouldn't be necessary in this day and age, but as you say, the masses are often "protected" against knowledge by their closed-minded guardians.

Unwanted pregnancies lead to people having to choose the best option for them, and their choices aren't always popular with others, even if it is nobody else's business.

The most efficient way to educate people on how to prevent pregnancies and STIs, and reduce the number of terminations of pregnancies is through organized, family life/planned parenthood classes in school.  If this can be coupled with effective parental guidance and teaching in the home, all the better.  Unfortunately, the statistics show that this is not often enough the case, nor are parent and religious-based programs always very objective or realistic.  Comprehensive s*x education reduces teen pregnancies (see article below).

  11. This is the truth:  HUMAN SEXUALITY IS NOT A GOOD THING ANYMORE.....AIDS....STD'S....TEEN PREGNANCIES....RAPE....Human instincts need a 180* turn, but no one can change it........without teaching our children.

  12. Great question!  Rarely is it the case that if one hates X, s/he will be for anything that supports X in any way shape or form.  People would rather see dabblers in X suffer grave consequences.  Example deters.

For example, many young people abuse alcohol, marijuana and drugs.  I dare say, that many lives would be saved if youngsters were taught "responsible drug use."  But it's not going to happen.  In this case the deterrent, usually death, is a powerful deterrent.

Although I SO do NOT support this way of thinking, I give Pro-Lifers credit in that they do have a fully thought out philosophy.
