  1. I'm not so sure it's actually the light that they're attracted to but the heat generated by the light.

Mosquitoes detect their targets through 3 different means.  They have chemical sensors that can pick up carbon dioxide and lactic acid expelled by someone or an animal breathing.  They also pick up on visual clues, such as if you're moving and wearing clothes that contrast with the background.  Something moving typically means it's alive, and therefore a good target for the mosquito.  Finally they have heat sensors so that they can find warm blooded birds and mammals once they get close.  Again, it's probably a combination of the visual and heat sensors that attract mosquitoes to the light.

  2. The inherent tendencies of the mosquito that probably it acquired from the tedencies caused its origin and intensity of its desire to get back to THAT best origin through better origins, probably makes it get attracted to the Light.

  3. Mosquitoes are not attracted to light, but CO2 that humans exhale. In a dark room, they're all over me. Even right now, they're nowhere near the lights but all over my legs.
