Why Aren't The Lakers really pushing for Marion?

He is just what the Lakers need. Defense, rebounding, scoring, CONSISTENCY.

D-Wade would like to play with Odom again, Riley likes Odom.

The Lakers NEED Marion, why isn't a deal in the works?...

Imagine this Line-up:

C-Bynum

PF-Gasol

SF-MARION

SG-Kobe

PG-Fisher

the Lakers would definetly get 60+ wins! I wish that Kupchak was reading this man!

  1. The Heat would never trade Marion, because their lineup looks good as it is right now. Lakers need to either trade one of their good players like Bynum or Gasol. No team whats to trade for Vlad or Luke Walton or Sasha or LO. Because thats what your implying that will happen. It won't happen, keep dreaming.

  2. I wouldn't want Marion over Lamar.

The Lakers were only 2 wins away from winning the championship without Bynum and with Lamar.

Plus, Marion can't run an offense.

He is dependant on another player to create his shots for him besides offensive rebounds (which Lamar and Bynum and Gasol will do).

Lamar can run an offense and create his own shot.

No need for Marion at this point.

  3. Because they would have to give up either Gasol or Bynum.

Why would Miami want Lamar odom back anyways when they have Michael Beasley?

  4. Because Miami could be asking for too much like the clippers who wanted Zach Randolph and a 1st round pick just for Tim Thomas and cuttino mobley.

But yeah the lakers would get 60+ wins with Marion plays better d than Odom and he would be the second scoring option.

  5. Marion looked good because Nash passed the ball.

He can't play with the lakers he will ever get the ball.

  6. What up Lakers, Angels, and Eagles,

For all we know the Lakers can be working something under the wings- remember last year all the different deals that were reported:  Jason Kidd, Jermaine O'Neal and the one that got done was out of the blue.

Your points are valid- D. Wade and Odom were great friends and Odom had one of his most productive years with the Heat (pre-Shaq).  The deal with Marion though is that he's making $17.8 million this year (making the trade to make the salaries match not a problem- trading Lamar's $14.1 million and throwing in a Chris Mihm or a Luke Walton- we can get rid of Luke's contract) but the problem is that with a trade like this you want to make sure you can keep Marion- and Marion thinks he's worth $20 million a year.

The Lakers have to re-sign Bynum and if he's healthy- he's getting a max deal- may restructure Kobe's deal in 2010- still have to pay Gasol- i don't think they have the cap room for Shawn unless he's willing to make less money and go for rings.  i'm not sure Shawn's first priority is championships- but if it is- he's a great choice- because you improve defensively- are at least as consistent offensively and Shawn can rebound- which makes it a less risky deal- because with a guy like Artest- if Bynum isn't 100% you lose the flexibility of moving Lamar up to the PF.

The Lakers will still have a good shot to win 60 games- but we all know for the Lakers it's about June and July and about hanging banner #15.

i suspect that Lamar's $14 million expiring contract will be attractive to someone and the Lakers will make a move by the trade deadline- but i don't think they need to make one now.  If say the Heat get off to a bad start- you could see Marion in a Laker uniform very quick.  The Lakers though don't just want to rent him for one year for a title and possibly mortgage their future.

    Nickster

  7. stop asking this question!! they're not gonna get him

  8. Lakers are not going to make a move!!There about to lose another part of there bench in Sasha !!

They just wont go over the cap no-matter what.

Jim Buss is going to bring down what could have been!!

  9. The Cat is out on Odom

everyone knows he's an overpaid, inconsistent player who hasn't put together back to back healthy seasons since his first two years in the league.  Every team knows someone has to babysit him all the time and they're not willing to risk 14 million and pay him to come to their team

The problem is not a lot of teams want him at that hefty price

  10. Miami doesn't want Odom.

  11. They would most deff dominate with Marion but it's not going to happen. I still can't believe the Suns traded Marion for that slow seabass of a Shaq!

  12. I think lakes are still to  wishy washy with Lamar.  Maybe they want to see how the season starts out with a healthy bynum and if it doesn't work than they pull the trigger again in February and get a big name player for Odom.

  13. YEAH like that dude said..

My Suns made Shawn Marion look good cuz Nash would pass the ball unlike mr KOBE who is a ball hog and doesn't care about his teammates just wants all the glory for himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

and helllllllllllllllo the lakers don't NEED anyone. they're a great team and have a great lineup already...

just that Boston has an even GREATER lineup! :)

[[although, i am a Suns Fan]]

  14. still would get yer ***#s whipped by the Celtics

  15. THE SPOT LIGHT IS ONLY BIG ENOUGH FOR KOBE AND PHIL'S EGO! MARION WOULD UPSET THE WHEAL OF STAR POWER AND SPIN THEM INTO A CATASTROPHIC END! WORSE THAN SHAQ AND KOBE!
