Why Australia is more republican than New Zealand?

In Australia the republican movement is stronger than the movement of New Zealand. Canada, Australia y NZ which of them is the most royalist? and why?

  1. The Crown sent convicts to Australia, sheep farmers to New Zealand and gold prospectors to Canada.

  2. Australia has had a larger percentage of non-British immigration than NZ , therefore a larger proportion of our population has no ties to the English monarchy. Also we have one of our major political parties that has as one of it's platforms a move to a republic.

    I think Canada will keep it's monarchy as part of it's non-American identity.

    NZ will probably drift towards a republic sometime after Australia becomes one.

  3. New Zealand doesn't really want to be a republic....cause then they can't play in the Commonwealth Games :). Being a commonwealth also gives them stability in case anything ever goes wrong.
