I have a tomtom One 3rd edition and it came loaded with maps of the entire us and canada. If I buy a map of the southern central states would it be a more detailed map or something? What would be the advantages of it?

  1. The map of the southern central states would be more detailed than the standard maps loaded on your tomtom.  You have to see if you have enough memory in your gps to install both sets of maps or if you will only be able to use one at a time, if so, then when you leave the south central states you would have to reload the original maps.  Also, tomtom, garmin, magellan, etc... update their maps every year to add more roads that have been created or changed.  Make sure that you even need the southern central states, it might just be for units with limited memory that aren't able to store the us and canada map set.  Good luck.

  2. The reason to buy a new map would be to replace your original map when it's outdated.  The smaller regional maps are not more detailed.  They are just cheaper than the full USA and Canada or US map.
