Why Bose? Why are they famous?

Why is it that when we think of a speaker, the first thing that comes to our mind is Bose? What's in a Bose ?

They are famous because their marketing is unmatched in the audio world.  

Bose is a joke in the world of home audio.  All the insiders laugh at them.   Lots of stores carry Bose because their marketing works, and they sell.  

But Bose is simply not good quality equipment.

There is no price point at which everything else for the same price doesn't blow Bose away.    Even less expensive stuff spanks it.

Look at their systems...they are made of the cheapest stuff you could possibly find.   Their subwoofers are terrible.  

You could take a 1200 dollar Bose HT system and blow it away with a 600 dollar Yamaha, Onkyo, etc, HTIB.  (home theater in a box)

Why do you think that audio mags never review Bose stuff?

marketing, product image and it doesn't sound bad at all beside that is that is very user friendly and very easy to setup for the regular guy, if you are a music, movie buff and loking for the best sound out there you will prefer a component for each source not an all in one device.

Marketing, and the huge rep they built up with their flagship 901 series of speakers. Those are the only thing Bose makes I'd call great midfi to fair hifi in quality. Listen to those 901's hooked to a 120 watt Harman Kardon Receiver like my brother is running, and it'll put the lie to the Wave Radio and their puny cube sub-sat setups. Has to be mass marketing. Actually since I started reading Stereophile and other real HiFi magazines, I think of several brands way before Bose. Like Athena, Mirage, Polk. JMLab, Paradigm, Jamo, DCM, PSB, NHT, Wharfedale, etc...., but you don't hear them being shilled for on national radio by Paul Harvey.

They have advanced technology in their products that sets them far apart from any other audio company. the sound sounds richer and more realistic.... and theres no background noise.
