Why British women tennis players freeze at Wimbledon?
British women tennis players over the years have been crumbling under the glare of Wimbledon rather than rising on the auspicious occasion. It has in fact become a periodic tradition at the All England Club that spunky British players go down like small horses taking on the woozy barriers of the annual Grand National steeplechase run in England.

The thwarting that looks to bother most experienced tennis scribblers is not only the wealth that has grilled into the game which is so visibly not paying the earned amount. Nor the truth that majority of the Brits success tales including Andy Murray only progress because they train themselves outside their national boundaries to institutes in Florida or Spain.

Virginia Wade is the last British tennis women who triumphed at Wimbledon. While describing the pressure factor at the All England Club, Virginia commented that the stress of being a British national is similar to a wave that you can drive or fall into.

Nevertheless, no matter which direction the wave has moved, players like Ane Keothavong as well as Elena Baltacha have channelized themselves into triumphant stages before failing in their first round clashes.

The head of the women’s tennis, Nigel Sears commented that “they were not fearful but it is a Grand Slam Tournament and they sense the hassle”.

What actually irritates sports experts is the truth that British tennis players are being wrecked by the density of matches. As if these are some innovative discoveries in sports or rare to only Britain’s tennis players while the entire tennis fraternity rests’ throughout the year.

But a hundred dollars query is why? Home advantage is mostly a positive factor rather than an obstruction in sports. “I don’t find Rooney and Giggs crumbling while playing against Chelsea when they are raged on by an ardent crowd at the Old Trafford”, Nigel added.

Brett Lee, the Australian fast bowler, while bowling with a Perth crowd behind him in an Ashes contest does not fall a part due to fan pressure. In fact, he speeds up the pace to give exactly what the fans want.

According to Nigel “whatever reasons the governing body of tennis in Great Britain gives for the recent extermination of the British tennis from the women’s side, there is a need to justify it with some factual logic rather than blaming entirely on the so called pressure”.

In fact, the truth of the matter is that as far as pressure is concerned, it goes side by side with the game, similar to taxes in our day to day life. Hence, it is high time for the women of Great Britain to realize the significance of one of the most important Grand Slam event rather than being ditched by it.

As far as the Queen’s arrival on the centre court of Wimbledon is concerned, it actually happened after a period of about thirty-three years. Hence, Wimbledon officials along with the crowd seemed overwhelmed on the very occasion. It means that the Queen should visit on and off as it would help in developing a winning thrust in the British players as well.

Most probably, the crowd of Wimbledon will soon see Prince William, who is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth at Wimbledon as he was found with Kate Middleton playing tennis just a few days ago.

As far as the tournament itself is concerned, Wimbledon is the name that raises heads. The lush green courts, the rituals, the fun in an English lawn environment and most significantly the chunk of players with world class talent and variety has made it all the more fascinating. And if the British players want to relish all these Wimbledon excitements, they really need to come out with a different approach of holding the crowd’s breath with their awe-inspiring court performances.
