Why Can't BuS drivers wait for a few seconds when they c someone running for the bus?

Sometimes someone will knock the bus door and the drive will not open the door. Thats cruel and mean. Sometimes its even someone with a baby carriage, or a disabled person.

A driver told me that they can't wait for someone who is running because if they fall or anything similar they can sue the company.

In New York and New Jersey areas, some bus drivers does not pay attention.

One time when I was getting on bus line called M7 going southbound on 7th Av, and I was boarding at 53rd St. I was behind the fat lady when bus driver almost closed door on my body because he wasn't paying attention to door.

Sometimes some bus driver forgets to open the rear door, and sometimes passengers exiting at rear door has to yell, "REAR DOORS, PLEASE"

I have gotten on bus with nice and mean drivers.

One of example when I was on Rockland Coach Red & Tan 11C ride from Palisade Mall, West Nyack, NY to GWB Bus Station in Manhattan, bus was travelling SB in New Jersey, when he saw African lady running for this bus, so he pulled over at safe spot and wait for her to get on it.

Sometimes if its not at a bus stop they will do that. I guess its your transits rule. It is mean. They only thing  you can probaly do is continue to complain

Yeah, I know, I'm so fed up with rude bus drivers.  I've had a lot of incidents in the past such as a bus driving right past a busy bus stop and that bus only comes once an hour.

Not to say that all bus drivers are rude, I've had some wonderfully, helpful, friendly bus drivers that do their job really well.  I know it can't be an easy job, it's probably really tiring and stressful BUT it is their job and they should treat people with consideration and respect just like everybody else has to do when they're at their job.  Don't forget most commuters have had a long, hard day at work as well, wouldn't you bus drivers want to be treated the same way at their job?

Also I know some passengers can be rude as well but suck it up, it's still your job and not everybody is rude, have some empathy.  You bus drivers aren't the only people who have had a stressful day.

Oh and seriously, stopping for a few seconds to let somebody on isn't going to affect your schedule.  Maybe if you LEFT ON TIME at the beginning of the bus route you'd actually have more time.  Trust me, my major bus stop is at the beginning and end of the line and while I'm always freezing my bum off in the bus shelter I'm watching the bus drivers drink coffee or have a smoke 10 minutes after they're supposed to have left and started the route.

Otherwise, thumbs up to the friendly, helpful bus drivers out there, they're the ones who deserve respect!

i guess they want to make as much money as they can, and you kno the saying goes-time is money. other than that some bus drivers r just plain mean, who knows maybe thay have man/ woman problems at home!

because they have a schedule to keep and its against the rules to open the door when they are not at the stop because the person can get hurt and it will be the bus drivers fault

My bus drivers usually stop and wait, unless there is lots of people on.

Thats why they don't.  Some of them are mean, and they don't really care about other people (or they want to get to the destination on time), whereas others will wait and make sure that there is nobody else that looks like they are coming.

Bus drivers have a time limit that they have when they are at a stop.

The Driver has a schedule, he has to keep to its timings, there are things called managers and supervisors that will hound him for running a tardy service, not to mention that in a few weeks you will be on here again saying "I can't get to work ontime because the bus driver keeps stopping for dumb people that can't make the bus ontime"

then don't forget the safety issue, if he left the stop and someone boards and injures themselves, the driver gets sued, does he have a leg to stand on? nope because he wasn't at his designated stop and broke the transit rules.

they have a job and rules to go by, get over the fact they don't wait and get to the stop ontime, or wait for the next bus (if there isn't one why are you leaving it so late?)

its a big bus, they might not see you. it may just be some policy that they have to stick to or get in trouble for, like one stop everytime they go by or sumthing. they do have a schedule they have to run by. that extra minute they stop could give enough time for other cars to get in front of the bus. those cars can each cause delays so forth.

LA bus drivers are the worst. I saw one pull up and stop for just a second and just pull away (never even opened the door) from a bus stop when there were two people waiting at the designated stop for him! They both threw their arms up like "WTF??" and she just kept on goin...

my school bus driver did not even wait when he saw me walking. but the good part is i have a new bus driver. since someones mother complained how he drove to fast and over the speed limit. but i do kind of feel for the guy

Becuase it is a person's own responsibilty to make it to the bus stop in time.

try going a little earlier next time.
