Question:

Why Can't Car Dealers Just Show The Price On A Used Car?

Very few do.

And I want to know what they are asking.

I know cars (as well as everything else in life) is negotiable.

Some dealers want as much as 4K over retail and then try to hard sell you when you go on their lot.

I just say have a nice day and find a dealer with a more reasonable price and the soft sell approach.

Wouldn't at least these dealers with a 2K margin have the upper hand even before I'd enter the dealership.

For example, here in the Midwest, I would NEVER go to a Bob Rohrman dealership.

So isn't it to their advantage to show their asking price up front?

  1. they don't want you to just drive around while they are closed looking for the best deal.  they want you to come in and talk to them while they are there
