Question:

Why Can't I Just Sit Down And Be Waited on In a Restaurant?

Why do I have to maintain constant vigilance, check and remind, and repeat over and over what I want to the server?

Why can't they just listen to what I say, write it down, and then give me what I asked for? I never ask for modifications, yet most of the time, they cannot get my order right. This is not relaxing.

  1. Ask about the meal a little before you order it so your server actually has it on their minds.  "Is the salmon good today?"  This may help your server have a mental anchor as to what you ordered.

This way, instead of thinking "He ordered some sort of fish", they will remember "He asked about the salmon."

I would also suggest making eye contact, speak clearly, ask questions, and above all, be friendly.

  2. Sounds like you don't tip well and they remember.

  3. it's not exactly rocket science.......they do work for tips

  4. they work for tips and if you tip bad they will remember you, but 25% is verry good i dont know what the deal is but is you tip 25% in texas they will carry you to your car.

  5. Because servers now days think they automatically earn their 15% tip.. and beyond that they don't care 90% of the time.

If I have a server (which happens once in a while) like you described I don't give them **** for a tip AND I talk to the manager.

  6. I get great service and my husband does not.  Perhaps you need to sound more authoritative and important and serious while ordering your food.  Give eye contact and expect great things.  I was a food server and a professional chef, etc...

Look at the server while placing your order and don't be shy about asking for anything that would make your meal and stay in the restaurant more enjoyable, remember that you are renting the table.  If all else fails talk to a manager to get your way.

  7. maybe its cuz ur funny lookin

  8. Maybe you should check the reviews and ratings of the resturants before you go. Or even get referrals from others.

  9. I am on your side dude...i find the dining out

experience to be going more and more down hill all the time!
