I loaned him my car to go check out a job and three days later he hasn't returned and he won't answer my calls. The police say it is not thief because I gave him the keys. But I didn't say be gone as long as you want to.

  1. the reason you cant report it stolen is because you knowingly and willingly let him use your car.

if you know where he lives {assuming he doesnt live with you} maybe  you could go over to his home and see if he is there or maybe he is at a relative house.

i would be concerned about his whereaboouts if his family or friends hhavent heard from him

  2. That wrong. You lend him the car, you didn't gave it to him. Go back to the police station and ask to talk to the chief.

  3. Key words:  "I gave him the keys".

Report HIM as missing, and let the police locate him. When they find him (and your car), then you can say goodbye to him and get your car back.

Learn from this, and watch who you lend your car to in the future.

  4. It's not really a larceny since you let him borrow the car.  Some states have Unauthorized Use Offenses which is really what this is.  You let him borrow the vehicle with the understanding he would return it by a specific time and he hasn't.  Check with the local Police and see if there is a law in your state that matches it.  If so tell them you want to charge your boyfriend with that.

If there is no law that covers this in your area then you have just learned a valuable life lesson here.  You can always leave your boyfriend a message that you called the Police and told them he stole your car..........a slight lie since they didn't take a report but you did tell them he stole it.

If no one has seen him then he may be in trouble.  Maybe you should report him as missing.

  5. Because you loaned the car to him.   The two of you were in a relationship and you have allowed him to use your vehicle continuously throughout the relationship and on the date in question.    Your boyfriend had your permission to drive the car.    Your boyfriend didn't "steal" the car.......he borrowed it.     You assumed he would bring it back in 3 hours or after the interview.

The state statutes generally state that an element for stealing is that the property was taken without the consent of the owner.

You're gonna have to track the car down on your own.     Sorry.

  6. Call the chief of police or the county District Attorney and charge your friend with auto theft.  You certainly did not give him the car to keep.

If you have insurance on the car, report the theft to your insurance company.

  7. Since you willing lent him the use of your car then it isn't stolen. You didn't set a time limit one way or the other for how long he could use it, so he isn't late in returning it, either, nor is he aware that you wished to have it returned by a specific time. If he returns without the car, then you can report it stolen. If you receive anything which says the car has been sold or involved in a crime or accident, then you can report it stolen.

  8. police only help when they want 2....that and u know him....sucks huh?,,,,,f.u.c.k.the police...........lol

  9. Face it you made a bad choice

Don't get mad at he cops

What you should have done was say that he took the keys while you were sleep and you did not report it cause you thought he would come right back.

That way they actually can charge the thief

I hope he is now your EX boyfriend

But i am laying odds if you did file charges and he did come back He would sweet talk you and you would drop the charges which is dumb but it happens on the regular

  10. In many states this is the case, if you gave him the keys on your own free will then he did not steal the car. However you should be able to file an unauthorized use of the vehicle. Does not carry the same weight, but it will alert other authorities in surrounding areas to watch for the car, and or your boyfriend. Many states once he is contacted and he fails to return the car, then a stolen vehicle report can be filed.

  11. Have you thought of reporting HIM missing?

Has he been in contact with anyone else?

  12. Time to get a new boyfriend, and hopefully you've learned your lesson about loaning things to people.

  13. sometimes police can track cars down

umm do u know ur license plates?

they can hunt him down :) i think
