Just like the United States wants to spread democracy, as we can see with our continued occupation of iraq.  It was the same thing with the vietnam war.  I believe one of the rationals for China's occupaton is because trying to establish the region as one major power.

They should but they won't cause China is a big human rights violator and because of their violations I am boycotting the Olympics

China is a communist nation.  Communism is anti-freedom.  Tibet provides natural resources, labor force and taxation benefit for the Peoples Republic.

China views Tibet as Chinese territory. If they were to be leniant other regions that wants autonomy might become vocal and even gain support in the West. China does not want that to happen. There can only be ONE China. They have opened up firendly relations with Taiwan, but they still don't recognize Taiwan as an independant nation.
