I think this is wrong and Rude to even ask to come and See a Hall, or DJ etc when they are working and yet 99% of clients ask if they can see us....NO i'm working and busy with my paying clients and they expect 100% of me and no uninvited guests at their wedding - the same way you are going to expect at yours!

  1. I would never go to wedding to check out the vendors. Thats rude.

I decided on the vendors by talking to them, and getting a feel for their taste and personality. If I felt it was a match, I hired them, simple as that.

And all vendors turned out beautifully and were more than I expected, but I have to admit that we didnt cut corners with vendors, we hired some of the best in that area.

I would not appreciate it if a vendor was making future clients while working at my event.

  2. Maybe because the brides want to see you in the middle of your act.  This way they can see the details and actions before asking you (or other vendors) to perform in their wedding day and not solely relying on the opinions/references from others.

  3. Partly because it's recommended - you wouldn't hire any other contractor without seeing their work, why should a DJ etc get off any differently? If you haven't provided any other way for them to see your work then of course they're going to be rude about this.

  4. ok dj...are we just bored and cant sleep? a bride is not the best person to vent to.

  5. Get a video made of you in action that you can show to potential clients.  Oh yeah, and be glad that you have as many people requesting your services as you do.  You must be very talented!

Better yet, add these videos to a web site so people can check you out at their convenience!

  6. First off, think of it as a complement.  They like your work and want to get your information before you disappear on them.  Also, there are tons of horror stories and want to avoid any problems.

As a tip, keep business cards handy in your shirt pocket and, instead of going into any details, hand them your card and tell them the best time for them to call.  Be nice to them, it could be your next gig.
