Question:

Why Did Someone Try To Steal My Water Meter?

Someone tried to steal it last night and almost got it. Why would anybody want a 35 year old water meter? Is there any safety device I can put on it? Don't suggest extra lighting. There's already so many street lights you can read a newspaper outside after dark. Criminals here aren't scared of lights, they do it anyway. Thanks for any help.

Yahoo wants to put this in sports, swimming and diving. I don't know where it goees.

  1. ~~My guess is someone is stealing it for the brass value (to trade in for cash). It's getting crazy with the stealing going on for copper and brass, and anything else they can get cash for. I've heard they will be implementing protection so it won't be easy to recycle these things without legitimate reasons of where it came from. They need to hurry, it's costing homeowners and taxpayers a fortune!~~

  2. They probably need one for a house or something and the idiots don't want to buy one.  But then, doesn't the water company provide those when you get service?  That is weird.  It will be interesting to see what the other answerers have to say about this.  Maybe it being 35 years old was an old design that has something the new ones don't.  Or, maybe they damaged theirs in their home and they don't want to have to pay the water company to replace it so they are going to do it themselves?  That's really the only thing I can think of.  What people will do these days!  Pathetic!  Sorry about that!
